My '07 MC has 16" white bridge spoke wheels with Goodyear Excellence 195/55R-16 runflats on them.

I like the way they look and ride, that is not the problem.

When my gravel county road is wet from a rain, the ASC kicks in and it is very difficult to keep it on the road.

I don't know squat about tires, but I can tell I am going to need something else for winter. I have a 4wd truck I plan to use when the weather gets heavy, but I need to be able to drive it if I get surprised by a few inches while I'm at work. It's happened before.

I see a lot of tires and wheels for sale here on NAM, but I don't have much of an idea what I'm doing.

Could anyone give me some advice?

you could buy dedicated snows for winter or look into better all seasons

I would hold off till some snow flass since you already have all seasons.

 

call the people at Tire Rack, or go to their website: www.tirerack.com They can advise you on what you need for the conditions you drive in.

It sounds like you need something with a pretty aggressive tread pattern. It's hard to get that without creating a little more noise when driving, though.

 

All season will do you very little under 34F....the compound will not stick. If you do alot of highway get a less snow oriented witer tire such as the Goodyear GW3 which have excellent wear on the flat tarmac. If not tires like Toyo Observe G-02 (http://www.toyo.com/docs/tires/tires...ategory=winter)
will be great in the snow and keep you on road during the snow falls and also work great when the temp drops below freezing. All seaons can not provide that much performance during cold weather with our without snow.

if you want your winters to last long, take them off in the early spring, try not to drive them too much over freezing it will cause the tires to vulcanize.

The Hakkapellitta tires are amazing snow tires (not all season, dedicated snow) and they also have some all season tires that are very capable in the snow but still work well on dry pavement.
