IC boot

has anyone else had problems w/ splitting IC boots? i had this happen at Sebring in May and again last weekend at Homestead. in between i ran two weekends at Moroso w/ no problems. i'm ordering aftermarket boots (and spares) but wonder if i'm the lone ranger. others with whom i've talked have had no issues in 4-6 years of track use. anyone?

Check for proper IC mounting. If for some reason the IC isn't square with the mounts it may be twisting the boot and causing the fatigue.

Yeah, I agree that it may be a mounting issue. I still have the original IC boots on my 2003 MCS. Its got over 45K miles and 40 track days.

in both cases, the split occurred on the inboard side of the passenger side clamp......any slight misalignment should be handled by the boot, i would think....i have a TSW damper installed.....i thought that this would elimiate the potential problem (the damper was installed, but lost a bolt, before the first tear occurred.) my "solution" at this point is aftermarket IC boots and spares.

I really like the m7 boots and hardware.

But it does sound like some kind of alignment issue.

Never had a problem with the boots, but have had the IC mounts fail. This would allow the IC to move around and could cause the boots to fail. There shouldn't be any movement between the horns and IC. As said before me sounds like an alignment problem.

It happened to me at pocono raceway passenger side. put some duct tape on it and made it home
My engine damper bolt came off also my engine mount is shot so I figured that was the reason the boots fell apart

The engine moving around shouldn't effect the IC in any way. The IC and the engine should move as one unit.
