Quickly make them, Mini does...

After being teased by the fun of test driving a couple of 2004 MC40's, I have ordered a new MCS in Lightning Blue.

I placed the order with the Herb Chambers dealership on July 20th, and by calling the 866-ASK-MINI hotline, found out that my car was scheduled to be built the very next week. The car was completed on 07/28! Once I found out the VIN, I used the http://schedule.2wglobal.com/AppTracking/ site and found that my car was booked and loaded and heading for NY on the 9th of August.

To go from a order I created on my PC to having the car arrive in the US in just 20 days, seems amazing!

For all you folks who had a car delivered to the NY facility, How long was your car tied up at the VDC?

Thanks all,

rockridge

i just picked up my lightning blue/black roof yesterday (friday). mine didn't go through NY but went through SC, but mine stayed at the VDC for a day.

good luck with the wait but it's well worth it once you star driving!

Congrats on such a quick build time. It all depends on the dealer you order from (available build slots per month, any possible wait list, transit times. etc.). I took delivery on my Mini this past Friday, and it was just under three months from the time I placed my order.

The best source of information on the process is your MA. They know the number of build slots available to them every month, if there is a waiting list, and approximately how long it takes to get from Southhampton, UK to their locaton.

Congrats rockridge!
GBMINI#3 was ordered 2/2/05 and arrived 3/3/05 - I thought that was impressive but it looks like you might beat me
