Drivetrain Cooper S - Borla versus Racing Borla
I talked to a fairly knowledgeable dude today on exhausts. As he explained to me, an exhaust can be "tuned" for max power only through a particular RPM band. His thoughts were that the Racing version would be tuned higher - say giving more HP in the 5000-6500RPM range where the normal Borla may do best in the 3500-5500 RPM range. His advice was to go for the more "street" one if you wanted your power down lower and have more driveable power versus the racing version which will give more power higher. He also said that the more mods you add - particularly the pulley, the less a difference the exhaust will make because the extra force from the pulley will basically just force the air out faster without taking much HP away from the engine. Borla does mention (on their website, I believe) that their exhausts are tuned more for torque and not just horsepower. Interesting thoughts...just thought I'd post them since there is very little info (surprisingly) on the Borla and Racing Borla.
With a Supertrapp setup, you can actually tune the exhaust by adding or removing restriction disks. I'd love to go this route, but unfortunately, the form factor is a little odd. Maybe with a smaller battery box (and lighter SLA battery) the Supertrapp could exit out the center.
Is there anywhere to get a "Borla Racing" exhaust as opposed to the regular one? Borla's website lists only one model and none of the MINI specific performance places list a "racing" version.

I agree, that Supertrapp is a bit too weirded out for me, even if I know it's more effective than the others.

Hmmm..I've seen it a bunch of online places. Try minimania at this page for starters
