MINIs at Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix (PVGP)
MINIs at Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix (PVGP)
More details will be posted on www.PittStopMini.Org, but we had 80+ Minis on a parade through downtown Pittsburgh this past Saturday July 14th! The conga line "motoringcade" ran nonstop behind the Allegheny County Sheriff's Mini (black-and-white with a sheriff's light bar and everything) and 3 motorcycles! We continued uninterrupted (and nonstop!) through downtown Pittsburgh to the PVGP, where we all met for fun, games, food, prizes, and watching the PVGP! We even had great representation from the Philly folks...

What a great time. I know the Regional Forums talk about this all the time, and this isn't quite the size of the Dragon, but when you get to be part of an 80-Mini parade, police-escorted, through a fairly major city, well, that feels good!
The obligatory car show was well attended at 80+, including this one that had us all salivating:

Watching these guys roar past, well, that was gravy:

Just thought I'd share... We've got a larger, even more over-the-top event coming in late October, stay tuned...

No, I was 5 cars back and my son was picture taking... I think there's a pic or two on the club website, www.pittstopmini.org or check Bill's pics on www.miniofpittsburgh.com ...
ah, memories....I remember the PVGP 3 or 4 years ago, when MINI was the marque car and we did the same parade. Having grown up in da 'burgh(Shadyside), it was a major treat to take that ride through the city.
Looks like you guys had much better weather tho'.
Nice photos, BTW.

Thanks - it was great! In 2004 (Mini as marque of the year) we had ~100 Minis. This year was the second best attendance at 85+, with many folks saying they'd do it again... we had a TON of activities going on and, frankly, were far more enjoyable than the oom-pah band at the BMW tent (but they were good, don't get me wrong...)
