Center rings for CenterLine RPM 17x7 R56?

Anyone know where I could get center rings to fit an R56 MCS and CenterLine RPM 17x7 wheels? I've had them spin ballanced at two different places, but they still vibrate. Both places tell me I need center rings. CenterLine says they are "lug-centric", don't need center rings, and they don't make center rings for them.

Discount Tire has aluminum rings for about $15 for the set. I've purchased these for my RPM's directly through them.

I believe the RPM is a 72mm. The MINI hub is 56.1mm. Call them and tell them what rims you have and they will get the right ones to you.

The last place that balanced my tires was Discount Tire in Santa Monica, CA. They said I needed rings, but didn't have them.

Robin check on line at Discount Tire, if they sell the wheels they can order you the rings for the 56.1 MINI hub.

My local DT in Boulder said getting the rings in metal or composite was not a problem but could take some time on the order cycle.

Try again.

Their web page doesn't list CenterLine, and they don't have the R56 listed in the car selection. The only 2007 MINI is the convertible, which is an older model.

I bought the wheels direct from CenterLine. When I called them, after the first tire place wanted center rings, The CenterLine guy said they don't make them because the wheels are "lug-centric".

I guess I'll call a Discount Tire store in the Monterey/Salinas area when I return home at the end of the week. I wasn't too impressed with the customer service at the Santa Monica store.

Or, perhaps I'll call CenterLine again on Monday.

Robin, WIth the correct specs that nparker posted, DT should be able to help you. My local store was able to order the correct set for me on a prior fitment issue. They have a great big book of centering rings. And for sure if DT could do it for me, certainly Tirerack should be able to find you a set if your local store isn't as helpful.

Best of luck. It must be a pita to have nice wheels/tires that won't balance.

I just had my factory wheels off for lowering. The factory wheel appears to be both hub and bolt centric. All my Porsches have been both, as have my BMWs. A belt and suspenders kind of thing...

Worst case would be a wheel or tire issue, but if they balance off the car, it would make me think that the problem is the lack of centering rings.

YMMV

Centerline won't be able to help you. Call Discount Tire Direct at 1-800-589-6789. Tell them you need aluminum hub-centeric rings for a 72.0mm - 56.1mm. They'll be able to get them for you. I got mine in 3 days. I put anti-freeze compund on the rings before I stuck them into the wheels. This way they do not "bond" together over time.

+1 on the antiseize. One of my stock wheels/hubs didn't have it and already were oxidizing together.

I have centerline RPMs and had trouble getting centering rings to fit just right. Mine are about 72.62mm - 56.1mm so I'd suggest you take your rim to a Tire speciality shop and have them carefully measure the size of the hubbore on your rim to confirm the size whether 72 or 73 mm. I've gotten rings before that were a tad too large and had to dremmel them down a fraction of a mm. The sizes in that range are 72.62 and 73.0 mm.

Rings can be plastic (lighter but less durable to heat as on the track) or aluminum (durable but costs $10 more and is heavier).

For street use only the plastic rings are OK. I have melted plastic rings at the track. Took alot of effort to remove the rings from the wheel hub. A big channel lock wrench might work. Anti-seize is good.

Perhaps I'll wait until I get home and measure them with digital calipers. Thanks.

Thanks. That matches what I measured. Ordered them today.

I removed the wheels and put the OEM Crown Spoke 17" with Dunlap runflats back on the MCS. Man, I had forgotten how bad the ride was.
