Okay....this is a hypothetical set up. Do you think it would cause rubbing issues?

Rim: 17x7.5 Volk LE37T, with +40mm offset
Tire: Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 in 215/45/17, Tire diameter: 24.6"
Suspension: factory installed JCW. No other lowering, etc.
Brakes: JCW
Spacers: None

Shouldn't have any problems... Why not run 215/40/17 and drop the car a little more on m7 springs or others?

 

I thought about that, but I won't be lowering any time soon. With my current OEM set up the wheel diameter is 24.2" I thought going smaller than that with the 215/40 would look odd without lowering. THe new wheels would be 24.6" and might fill up the gap a little better.

Do you have any recommendations on lugs nuts? I am debating between:

1. KICS R40 w/ Lock in Black Chrome (open ended)
2. Rays Extended (approx 40mm) Nuts in Black (closed ended)

 

black McGard SplineDrives frm Summit Racing with racing studs from PiloRacing (instead of the normal ones in case you haven't already done a stud conversion). The lugs are affordable, use a rotating set to protect your wheels and an install sleeve that fits over the lug so they work in tight recesses (though the TE37 don't need this).

 

I prefer closed end over open end nuts- I find that corrosion occurs with open end nuts after a few months depending on the elements and your weather conditions. Once this happens the nut freezes on the stud and the two cannot be easily separated.

Now that I only use closed end nuts I have not had that problem. I lost about 12 studs that way. I had gorilla plated studs and nuts.

The finish on some of these nuts can be scraped off easily so be gentle.

Alloy nuts are light but can be over tightened and damaged (if closed ended), make sure they are long enough to house the entire tip of the stud after it sticks out from the wheel. Weights do vary some, I got two different sets and one was quite a bit lighter than the other- both were alloy and looked similar. I lighter set I got from tirerack.com.

I have seen titanium nuts but they are very expensive and someone could easily steal them even if you have locks on your wheels.
