Interior/Exterior rear red reflector ideas for white tail lights?
Hey all,
In Washington state (and probably other places as well), you are required to have 2 red reflectors on the rear of your car. Most tail light clusters have incorporated the reflector so no additions are needed.
The MINI white cluster has no red reflector. When you buy it, they give you a little plastic "holder" and a red reflector to go in it. The "holder" is a supposed to be inserted (
, yes, cut into your bumper) and the reflector stuck on.
I don't want to do that...
Now what?
Any ideas on how to get a good looking reflector setup? I was thinking of actually somehow opening up the tail light cluster and seeing if I can add a reflector in there.
Has anyone solved this problem?
For now, I replace the original stock tail lights so I don't get pulled over...AGAIN (no ticket luckily, but it still sucks getting pulled over)
Thanks!
Pico

AH! actually no, not in washington. you need red reflectors as well.
The thought is that if you are parked, then you need something to indicate you are there at night. I printed out all the laws and keep them in the glove. I got a speeding ticket recently (doh!) and then spent 20 minutes reviewing the laws with the nice officer. We had a good chat (his dad has a MINI and he STILL gave me a ticket). But the net result was that yes, they need to illuminate red but you ALSO need the reflector.

Don't have a great answer, but my Harley Sportster rear reflector is just mounted with heavy duty double stick tape..
Perhaps you can tape or mount reflectors behind the mesh on the rear of your MCS, and have the reflectors hidden and sort of comply with the law if you get stopped..

on the MCS the reflectors look best on the black area beside the exhaust pipes. That seems to be the least intrusive and best looking way. (that I have seen done)
As for teh MC, it's drilling somewhere nice and shiney.
