Cabrio 2006 or 2007???

I found an almost new MC cabrio this weekend that the owner claims is a 2007. The big problem I found was that the interior, engine, etc. resembles my 2006 MC and MCS. I KNOW the difference between the looks of the 2006 and the 2007, interior and exterior. The books in the car are for a 2007 which has the new MINI photo on the cover with the black grill and new headlights. The books also had all the info for the new style radio/speedo, switches, lights, etc., which then of course did NOT match up to the older 2006 interior. The black sticker in the driver's door jam says "Manfg 03/07." The guy said he was told by the dealer that is was a 2007 model and the key tag STILL had the dealer tag on it which said 2007 which really doesn't mean much.

Everything about this MINI says 2006. What I failed to do was write down the VIN so I could call MINI to check the build date.

Is it possible this MINI cab was built in March 2007? I thought MINI had stop building all 2006 models late in 2006. Am I right on this?

The 2007 cabrio is unchanged from 2006, and in fact the cabrio will not be updated for another year (model year 2009). Only the hardtop was updated for 2007. Just go on the MINIUSA website and take a look.

The 2007 Cabrio models are still the first generation cars. Same engine, chassis etc. The Carbio will be in production until 2008.

For the 2007 model year, the Cabrio got new colors, different stereo face (same unit found in the JCW GP) and a standard AUX jack which you can find in the glovebox.

What I don't understand is, is the owner's manual in that 2007 Cabrio the manual for the 2nd generation cars, the R56?

Thats very interesting.. I just bought a new 07 MCS Cabrio and I haven't noticed that the manual is for the R56 .
Now I'll have to use this as an excuse to leave work early so that I can go look at the owners manual and submit my finding to this thread.

This is what really threw me off on this deal. I'm just wondering if the dealer screwed up on the books, but they were definitely R56.

MINI Cooper S Convertible 2007 Owners manual

I have verified that my owners manual is indeed the proper manual for my model car (07 MCS Cabrio). After checking the MINI website for the online owners manual, they too have the correct manual.
So I would imagine that your dealer gave you the wrong manual.
I will attempt to add a owners manual to this post as a PDF file.
