5/26 - Trail Ridge Road?

Anyone up for a drive up Trail Ridge road this weekend? I'm thinking Saturday morning... They are opening it today sometime and it should be a gorgeous drive up there! I've never done it but have always wanted to.

Perhaps meet at the east toll station in RMNP at around 11am?

Mt Evans was nice today

All the way up to Summit Lake. After that, still closed and lots of blowing snow along the way anyway. But it is pretty.

No animals out - all we saw was one dinky Marmot. Not really worth the trip.

Ranger Station at Idaho Springs suggested that if they plowed all day today and tomorrow, it could open to the top tomorrow.

Certainly worth the trip then but still snow and ice on the road. With the snow, it was 25 degrees at the lake, certainly colder at the top. Take a coat, hat, gloves, etc. to stay warm. You will need it.

Trail Ridge road was fun, although all the construction made the drive a little bumpy

But it was well worth the money to drive up!

Attached are a couple pics from the trip in the new car (we still have the Cooper as well), and you can see all the trip photos (including the pre-wash session) at: http://www.dirosafamily.com/gallery/album214

Yah it would. On our run this past weekend the deepest path we traversed was only to the tops of the MINIs doors (not windows). That was enough for us.

Sadly, no pictures of that so far as I know.

Maybe we can make the trail ridge run another time.
