I think we can agree that isn't true...but, I was wondering if anyone had the Injen intake and could tell us how they like it.

It's on page 5 of the new Moss catalog I got in the mail today.

One of the other forum sponsors also claims 12HP. Of course they're just parroting Injen's literature. It does make me curious, though.

The Moss catalog didn't even use the "up to" disclaimer.

Here's a pic of our new intake. Can I claim 12 mental HP on it?

If you have a severely clogged stock filter that is costing you at least 10 hp...then it will probably give you a 12 hp increase.

Doesn't anyone wonder how that intake in the picure is going to fit under the hood? It looks really big to be.

You mean my intake? Cause if fits no problem. You have to remove the entire airbox and the res. chamber. The hood makes the top to the box when you shut it. It also makes the deap sound with the hood shut.

Injen is one of the few intake marketers that CAN claim their HP gains, and one of the best manufacturers IMO. They actually take time to see what bends can be achieved, and to behonest, to have a company like Injen ACTUALLY make an intake for MINIs is kind of cool.

For you non believers, take for instance. I bumped by 1996 Suzuki Sidekick up to 120 hp. That's 25 more horses than the stock 95. Does it go faster? No, throttle response is soooo much better and the engine WANTS to go as Mazda would say "ZOOM, ZOOM", but the gearing and computer won't allow it .

What did you do to get the extra 25 HP?...and if you really have 25 more horses it should accelerate a lot faster.

Ok, so my dad got his Injen the other day from Moss, as it's catalog clearly states it's fits 02-06 MC. When installing he noticed that some underhood items (bolts, etc) are not in the same place as the pictures in the instructions.
Then he notices that the instructions and box indicate that it's for 02-05 MC.

Anyway, long story short, it is pressing against the hood (obviously not good for maximum flow). He can't adjust it downward or a bolt (that is clearly not in the instructions) pushes into the filter.

He will call Moss tomorrw to find out if there is a fix or if it is simply not compatible, he will send it back as the catalog states it fits and it clearly doesn't.

I'll keep people posted, but it's not looking good. He may be ordering the AFE if he can't resolve these issues.

On the bright side, he did say it felt peppier and sounded more aggressive!

function __RP_Callback_Helper(str, strCallbackEvent, splitSize, func){var event = null;if (strCallbackEvent){event = document.createEvent('Events');event.initEvent(str CallbackEvent, true, true);}if (str && str.length > 0){var splitList = str.split('|');var strCompare = str;if (splitList.length == splitSize)strCompare = splitList[splitSize-1];var pluginList = document.plugins;for (var count = 0; count < pluginList.length; count++){var sSrc = '';if (pluginList[count] && pluginList[count].src)sSrc = pluginList[count].src;if (strCompare.length >= sSrc.length){if (strCompare.indexOf(sSrc) != -1){func(str, count, pluginList, splitList);break;}}}}if (strCallbackEvent)document.body.dispatchEvent(even t);}function __RP_Coord_Callback(str){var func = function(str, index, pluginList, splitList){pluginList[index].__RP_Coord_Callback = str;pluginList[index].__RP_Coord_Callback_Left = splitList[0];pluginList[index].__RP_Coord_Callback_Top = splitList[1];pluginList[index].__RP_Coord_Callback_Right = splitList[2];pluginList[index].__RP_Coord_Callback_Bottom = splitList[3];};__RP_Callback_Helper(str, 'rp-js-coord-callback', 5, func);}function __RP_Url_Callback(str){var func = function(str, index, pluginList, splitList){pluginList[index].__RP_Url_Callback = str;pluginList[index].__RP_Url_Callback_Vid = splitList[0];pluginList[index].__RP_Url_Callback_Parent = splitList[1];};__RP_Callback_Helper(str, 'rp-js-url-callback', 3, func);}function __RP_TotalBytes_Callback(str){var func = function(str, index, pluginList, splitList){pluginList[index].__RP_TotalBytes_Callback = str;pluginList[index].__RP_TotalBytes_Callback_Bytes = splitList[0];};__RP_Callback_Helper(str, null, 2, func);}function __RP_Connection_Callback(str){var func = function(str, index, pluginList, splitList){pluginList[index].__RP_Connection_Callback = str;pluginList[index].__RP_Connection_Callback_Url = splitList[0];};__RP_Callback_Helper(str, null, 2, func);}

Just got word from my dad. Though the Moss catalog claims it works with the 02-06 models, a call to Injen verified that it does not fit the 06. Moss is taking the intake back and my father will get the AFE that everyone seems to like.

But for those interested in the Injen for their earlier models, my dad said the fit and finish were excellent and that the car did indeed feel peppier and sounded better.

well the bonnet stripes add 42.5 horsepower, so I would invest in them for the money.

I have to admit Moss is good about returns. I just returned my tow hook because it was rusting. A new one is on the way.

I've considered the Injen intake. It looks awesome...if only it came with a heatsheild. Then I would surely get it.
