Looking for a factory Aero grille for my 2004 R53. Thanks! [ EDIT - found the top, now need the lower ]

 

Reach out to Detroit Tuned. I think they may have the top portion in stock - brand new. I don't think you can order these from the dealer anymore unless someone has old stock laying around.

Yeah, it is crazy.

I've noticed since they've became unavailable that most people opt to use the commonly available R56-style knockoff design.



Not to my tastes.

I much prefer the proper honeycomb R53 design.

No problem...the lower is gonna be a challenge. Try the Facebook groups. ECS had them a few months ago.

 

I was looking at the bumper today - if the factory lower is removed, is it a flat plane back there? could it just get black vinyl (or black paint) in the meantime?

 

I would leave the lower section alone until you find the lower aero grill to replace it. You could also wrap the chrome in matte black like this car. Doesn't look bad. Good luck with the search!

Anyone here have connections for 3-D modeling and printing?

 

I do, actually - but I think something like this would need to be injection molded (UV, elements, etc)
Plus, it's really big for printing.

However, were there enough interest (and I could get the lower as well) I do know a guy in the plastics industry....

 

The lower JCW grille doesn’t fit a non-aero bumper without modifications. If I remember correctly, it will sit proud if only the bumper is modified and will sit flush if additional work is done on the lower grille.

Also, the bumper and hood supports can be seen through the JCW grille so you might want to pick up some paint or vinyl to cover these areas depending on what color your car is.

 

I knew they were hard to find but in reading I see they are currently no longer available. Guess I should hang onto my brand new spare upper and lower Aero grills.

 

Or sell them to me?

We have aftermarket ones but they dont have the matte finish or the original style hexo grille

that main lower only fits the aero bumper, right? (or will it work in my stock '04 S bumper?)

 

I have a brand new aero grille but hanging onto it for now.....

I may have a used one though....Will look tomorrow.

If I do the border edge of grille it is painted Dark SIlver.....
