The factory original upper engine mount (passenger side of engine) is a hydraulic unit that tends to fail over time. If you see a black mess under the upper engine mount, the fluid has leaked out and it has failed.
 This “Upgrade” upper engine mount replaces the worn and leaking stock mount. This mount does not move as much as the stick mount which means more power to the ground quicker ie., reduces torque loss.
 Fits the following GEN 1 models:

2002-2006 R50 MINI Cooper and R53 Cooper S Hardtop

2005-2008 R52 MINI Cooper and Cooper S Convertible
 The strengthened engine mounts are made of a stronger composite than rubber limiting engine movement and allowing faster power to the axles for better acceleration. Billet aluminum with polymer guts.
