This is a significantly upgraded, lovingly maintained, supercharged, 2006 John Cooper Works R53 Mini Cooper S.

I've put an illogical amount of money and love into this car, but my family is growing and I live in a city, so I don't have space to keep two cars. I am more interested in keeping it out of the junkyard than I am getting a good deal.

It's a joy to drive. The upgrades balance and complement each other. There's enough power to make you laugh out loud. The supercharger whines. The exhaust burbles, just enough. The suspension and brakes are upgraded in step with the power, so you feel planted and in-tune with the car.

I have not just bolted parts on it. I did a comprehensive, maybe maniacal, preventive maintenance program. Since purchasing from the original owner (a close friend who had it professionally maintained) much of the car has been rebuilt or replaced. See the full list at the link above and below. I have receipts for nearly all of the work, as well as a spreadsheet of where, when, and what work was done.

The car is not flawless: It needs a new clutch. It was professionally replaced at 96,000 but it's slipping significantly and definitely needs to be replaced. I have not opened the car up to fully diagnose this issue, but I know what a slipping clutch feels like and you should assume that you'll need to replace the clutch. If you’re not nearby, I could arrange replacement before you arrive and/or I can transport the car via trailer to a reasonable distance from the NY metro area. Happy to discuss what reasonable means.

The check engine light comes and goes. The codes are (and always have been) P0303 - cylinder 3 misfire and P0420 - cat below efficiency. I know these are due to the upgrades and tune because it's been like that for the life of the car, before I owned it. That has been consistent through an engine rebuild, replacing all sensors, replacing the cat, O2 sensors, and more. Because those codes come and go it can make inspection frustrating in some states, though it’s never failed to pass.

Also there are some chips in the paint and the driver's seat needs leather stitching on the seam. It's in exceptional condition for a 16 year old car, but it is a 16 year old car.
