How to Install JCW Pro Splitters with PDC
For those of you that have PDC and want the JCW Pro Splitters. You can have your cake and eat it too!
Basically you pull the sensors and holders from the stock bumper cover. Cut through the Butyl that holds it in place (I cleaned of all the butyl when the holder was off the original moulding piece)...Then cut a hole in the Pro Splitter (I used a jigsaw and Dermal (thought it was worth the $50 considering how much the splitters cost). Then 3M butyl the holders into the new holes and you are there! I put mine slightly higher in the splitter to stop it interfering with the curves in the new splitter - see the last pic so you understand. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.nor...786d020c63.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.nor...180fb1f1f2.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.nor...011ae243d7.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.nor...aa37a87842.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.nor...2bee95f1d0.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.nor...a2bd7598ea.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.nor...7822c152d4.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.nor...22c02e6898.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.nor...e6ab7dfacc.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.nor...618393d879.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.nor...6f196c14af.jpg The sensor is slightly higher than before but still works perfectly. |
Great job!

Would you say Jcw or ACS splinter if you could only choose one ?
Which is best bang for buck No front sensors if it helps |
In my opinion the JCW is a nicer design..

Boy that's a lot of hassle for a subtle change in the look. They should have made that look standard IMO. Good job though.

TBN. Really improves the front look though. Makes the big nose almost acceptable!

Trim removal?
I was under the impression from various sources found here that the front bumper has to come off to replace the trim?
Based in your photos, it’s not required? Additionally, I have the JCW splitters with no hardware, can I use my existing hardware? ecs tuning has the kit but it shows hardware??? my Mini for reference see the base trim non pro lip. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.nor...f361009df.jpeg |
KamGraphica. I did my install a while back so my recollections are likely not 100% accurate. I think that the JCW splitters require some longer clips but you that will be clear once you get into the project. You will be able to buy these from your dealer once you have them off it will be clear to you. I think though you can mainly reuse what you take off. I had to use special hardware as I was adding another splitter underneath.
Hope this helps....basically get the old ones off (you will not need to remove the bumper) and figure it out from there. One note though - it is easier if the front of the car is raised. I think you need to drop the front edge of the cover under the engine bay where it mounts to the cowling. |

Splitter instalation.
How did you unmount the original splitters?

Hi,
I just want to thank for sharing this guide that made me dare to take on a project like this. I think these front splitters makes the front so much nicer. Here is a guide how to make the swap (for cars without sensors): https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.nor...d3f551cf2.jpeg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.nor...33f01548d.jpeg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.nor...a294e0478.jpeg |
