Hey Gang,
I have a 2011 JCW Hardtop. I am looking to get as wide as I can without changing Wheels. Does anyone have experience with 225/40/17 on a JCW?
Please no negative replys. Or questions as to why ect.
Post pics if you have them.

Stock suspension? People run 225/45 so the 225/40 should be fine.

I ran 220/45/17 Hankooks ( this is a Cadillac spec tire) using stock size 17/7.0 wheels on my R53 MCS. Really great deals available on these all season HP tires.
I currently run on my 2013 JCW a set of 17/7.5/et 45 wheels using 235/40/17 Sumitomos.
The R53 wasn't lowered but used 20mm spacers all around. The JCW is lowered 2'5 all around. No scraping,no rubbing but a lot of careful measuring.

I think you'll be fine. I even fit 235/40-17 Yokohamas on my R53 without spacers or modifications, and the R56s have a bit more room (that's what the person I bought them from had them on), they did rub the wheel arch plastic a bit.

Should be fine at that size, I had 205/40/17 and it was fine just not enough sidewall. With a 225 you should be good to go.

I'm running 17x7.5 wheels on 215/40/17s with 5mm spacers on my R53.
