yeah, there was a group buy through motoringfile.com. Alex lives in Germany and can get the new factory armrest even though it is not available here until Jan 05. Check out motoringfile.com

Mine should be arriving in the next few days. I have a thread on MINI2 which I will keep updated with the results, and ultimately on my web site as well.

Mine came in on Friday and I installed it right away, it only took about 15 minutes. It is GREAT. Perfect position, comfortable, swings up, has storage, exact match to the seat, and the cheapest armrest to boot.

The only complaint is that pulling up the e-brake, the grip hits the armrest.

Mine came today!

Quality and functionality on-par with the one in my 328i. The whole armrest pivots up and out of the way to allow easy access to the seat back adjustment *****. The armrest bracket does not interfere with the rear cupholder.

My parking brake does not interfere with the armrest, but I have just had a service done to my MINI and due to that, I believe the travel of my handbrake may be less that Josh's.

Hopefully, MINI dealers will have this item soon. I highly recommend it. I'll try to post pictures soon.

I saw jwardell's arm rest this past week-end @ the covered bridge tour and it looks great. Hopefully I will be armresting soon.

I got mine this past weekend. The install was a snap and it really looks great. The group buy offer is currently closed, but if it opens up again, it is really worth it. It looks great with the panther black leather interior.

Any chance of a second group buy in the future? I'd like to get in on one, if possible!

That's a nice looking unit. Plus, the ability to pivot up and out of the way

is a huge differentiator vs the others out on the market.

MINI Armrest Part Number

The box in which my armrest was delivered has a MINI part number of:
52 12 0 154 307

Hope this helps...

SpiderX --

A MINI enthusiast (Alex, a.k.a. MacMini) in Germany arranged a group buy last month from a local BMW dealer. The price was about $150USD (w/shipping to Eastern US), which was about $50USD off Dealer "over-the-counter" pricing. However, he was flooded with orders and had to cut them off due to limited armrest supplies. I should note that Alex was doing this as a favor to the world's MINI community and should be highly praised for his efforts. Were there more folks with that level of altruism...

For reference, you might want to read the thread on the German "NewMINI-Technik" message board. Since quite a bit of it is in German, you may want to use BabbleFish to view it. BTW--the address, contacts and phone numbers of the BMW dealer in Hamm, Germany are available in those posts if you would like to contact them directly.

Here is the link:
NewMINI-Technik Armrest Group Buy Thread

Cheers,

Theo

Mine arrived in fine fashion for 125 USD to my home in Virginia. Box was toast, but the arm rest was fine and there was an invoice in the box. If something escaped in transit, I did not seem to need it. Easy install. Nice piece. Alex did a super job throughout. Vince

All,

I live in Southern California and my group buy MINI armrest just arrived in today's mail (the box is HUGE!). The armrest is fantastic and I think that it is going to look spectacular in my new HB MCS (which just arrived last Saturday). The armrest I received is a true black color unlike the charcoal grey color of the one shown in the photo at the top of this thread (part number 52 12 0 154 307). If you look at the MINI emblem on the armrest in the photo at the top of this thread, my armrest is as black as that emblem throughout. It's very cool!

Alex (i.e. "Minimac") did an outstanding job on setting up the group buy for all of us. Kudos to him!

Yeah, guess I am going to receive mine also this afternoon. Just got a call from my mail center at work that there is a big box sent to me and will be at my mailstop this afternoon to pick up. So, finally it's here. Like other people mentioned a thousand times already, thanks Alex for this offer. This is the first time I buy thing as far as to Germany directory, the last one was something from UK for my Mini.

So I have also picked up mine already today as I mentioned in the post above. I tried to install it, however, seems the screw driver I have is not big enough to unscrew the screws for the seats. Anyone can please tell me what size exactly that is, so I can go buy the right size screw driver?

Thanks much.

Found the answer myself, it is a T40.

I received a phone call today from my local dealer saying that while there are armrests in stock, they won't be shipping any out due to an unspecified problem with the part.

I called two other dealerships to check if I was being fed a line and was told the exact same thing.

Anybody know what's up?
