^^^ Just as other NAM members that follow BaT do, got email notification early this morning and immediately checked it out. The above new video was posted to @Mod-Mini's site after I checked that with related pics. Watching it now made me laugh when you mentioned people recognizing your voice but not your mug, 'cus I've never seen it despite watching all R53 vids and several others MINI related on your channel! GLWTA...

I remember when I was looking for my GP, there was nothing out there, then I was given a lead for the one I ended up purchasing. Since then, there has been a steady stream of them on BaT or Cars & Bids - strange times for sure!
GLWTA, the car looks well cared for! -Andy |

Saw this on FB, makes sense, I'd be wary of adding mileage too if I had a fairly low-miles GP1. Did a bounce around looksee RE: pedals, perhaps they came from this place? https://www.hwaccessories.com/UPedal...MRJGNnHBmxBoR0 . https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.nor...b7d7f49b22.png |
I don't watch his videos as much lately but when I first got the R53 I was responsible for a significant portion of his 100K monthly views for a few months. I hope the auction does well.

He added a drive video:
With the disclaimer: Also, here is a test drive video (speedometer pixelated for prosecutorial reasons :) Reminded me of this brilliant ad: https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.nor...dd1b8c6f4c.png But no worries, bail bond not gonna be needed, it's actually a bit tame so no patrol gonna pull 'im over. I was hoping for some upper limit action though, like NW Stig! :) |
ITs cool but man that price? Purely for collector value? I guess I dont agree but its still cool.
|
Yea those dont looks like the same people whom make our race pedals which are made custom in the USA. My guess is that its the other guys and they made per car. Weird they made the gas and clutch pedal in that shape like a domestic car pedal.

Love the additional detail shots that he added today.
I've been looking at previous GP listings to try and get an idea of how the undertrays were fitted from the factory and most pics have a slant so can't really see details, this one that he took is straight on view: https://bringatrailer.com/wp-content...it=1536%2C2048 The fastener with a bolt/washer is to the special bracket I think? Affixed to the rear subframe? Recently got these undertrays finally and just trying to get a good grasp before I install them so that hopefully I'll have everything I need with no hardware store runs involved. LOL 51757182688 is still available and is the original GP part 51757182687 is NLA and has been superseded to R56 version but will still work with minor modification https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.nor...644d940c57.png |
Yep those used to be the thing back in the day, i remember people asking about them all the time. I have them on my R58 JCW as they were factory and taking them off and looking at my R52 (no panels) in comparison the R58 is in much better shape. It seems the panels not only provide aero dynamic flow but they protect the brake and underbody from animals, rocks and debris. Also salt spray.
https://c1552172.ssl.cf0.rackcdn.com/380322_x800.webp https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...install-3.html They really cover the whole underbody and not many cars here at work even have them, newer 911s, special edition VW, and RS audi have them on some models. https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...l-img_0557.jpg |
Also it looks like it has our ECS brake lines on that GP1.

Currently sitting at 24k with 2:40 to go!

Saw this letter from the 1st to 2nd owner. Looks like it's just "custom pedals". https://bringatrailer.com/wp-content...it=1068%2C1383

It has the rare M7 speed black chrome limited edition STB. Very cool and the leather red stitched down tube, i have the last set in the world that was new and its in my R52 JCW.

^^^ Agreed on market softening as demonstrated by the high numbers of reserve listings going RNM.
Interesting though that the final price recouped original 2006 $31,150 MSRP (plus $600) plus with 5% BaT fee and transport (if required) additional. OTOH, 45k miles isn't especially low for a GP1, so seemingly @Mod-Mini's "cred" factored more than the total of ownership provenance. In any case, congrats to him and the new owner! |
Thanks for watching everyone and sorry, I couldn't really toss the car around on public roads and it wouldn't help the final price for the car if I did. I'm happy with the value. It's a little higher than an original GP1 of the same miles, but has an extra set of wheels and a lot of money on mods that many people will want.
The car I'm replacing GP1 with - is modified as well and wasn't that much less expensive but they are desired mods so it's a good deal for me. I sitll have the GP2 and hope to keep it for longer than I could keep this GP1. It has only 19000 miles on it, got it with only 1100 for well under value. It's the quicker car but the GP1 has more character and takes more skill to drive well. |
