GP 1456 For Sale

GP 1456 just popped up on eBay. The car looks like it's in great shape. Only 11,000 miles and the price is reasonable. If I hadn't JUST bought an 09 JCW, I might be tempted...

drno 12-15-2011 05:33 AM

i just saw it--what happened to the roof number ?

anasumme 12-15-2011 05:57 AM

I saw this car for sale earlier this week and was hoping to look at it next week when I'm in town for Christmas. Now with it being on ebay I'm not sure I'm going to have that opportunity. Great price, but from pictures it looks like it's missing the roof number, and on the boot it's missing the GP and JCW emblems.

ThumperMCS 12-15-2011 07:29 AM

FWIW...

The roof number has its own part number and pretty certain they can be ordered from a MINI parts dept. Same with the emblems...

ENGINE 58 12-15-2011 08:02 AM

i wonder if they would let me trade in my 09 jcw for it?

mdsbrain 12-15-2011 08:13 AM

Good looking car. Looks like no one kept it very long by the times it was auctioned off.

GP in IN

Drove the GP today.

anitan1 12-23-2011 12:46 PM

The GP is in Indiana? I thought it was in Chicago...? So tell me, what did you think? Did you buy it?

anasumme 12-23-2011 01:25 PM

The car drove fantastic and it's actually stored in a warehouse in Merrillville. Overall car in good shape, typical ware and tear. Some weird mods - led lights and the exhaust is not JCW.

anasumme 12-23-2011 01:33 PM

I meant wear. Sorry

anitan1 12-23-2011 01:43 PM

That's about an hour and fifteen minutes from my house. So close, yet sooo far. Were you tempted??
Why in the hell would you ditch the JCW exhaust? That doesn't make any sense...

anasumme 12-23-2011 04:52 PM

Good question! When I checked under the car I noticed the exhaust tips were not JCW. On top of that there were LEDLights all throughout the interior and exterior of the car.

It was listed on Craigslist also..saw it the other day under the Chicago listings

GP1456 is now listed on this dealership website in Fort Worth Tx.

The previous eBay price was $23,900. Carfax shows it was auctioned off in January, and just listed for sale last week at this Ford dealership in TX. The new listing shows the car for sale for only $17,991. I have no idea if this is legit and did not call to inquire, but just passing along the info for anyone who may be interested.

New photos are posted in the listing, but basically the same as before. No roof number and the rear JCW and GP emblems are missing.

OMG... Daddy want. It's close enough to me that I would go score it.... Damn, If some douche hadn't just caved in my drivers side door.

Who removed all the badges and do these silly mods. A car like this is the kind that people want completely stock. Damn... I understand why it has been hard to sell because I want it completely as it came from the factory. I am looking for that number online... Can't find anything.

Same.. I might call them tomorrow and see whats the deal with it.. If it did sell from the last dealer who would mean that would be owner #3..

Agree, but at this price someone could possibly invest another $2-3k to bring it back to stock, assuming there are no more surprises.

With the carfax, the original dealer should be on that list. It concerns me that there is no online record of a highly desirable MINI like that, and it has odd markings. My only thought is that it has been in a wreck and the body shop didn't think/know to put new numbers on it.

There has got to be a reason why a GP that was originally $23,000 went to multiple dealers, then to auction, and is now $5k less. This dealer got a helluva deal, and I bet that you could pick it up for $16,500 easily.

JackMac 02-10-2012 07:20 PM

Totally agree, and this is one that would need close examination in person. Always prefer to purchase a car like this directly from the owner when possible, so you can get the car history.

For what it's worth, there are 5 other GPs currently for sale right now, in addition to this one, for anyone else who may be looking.

Do you have links or a list of them?

1491 and 0256 are listed here in the NAM market place, 1652 in the GP sub-forum, 0709 is listed on Gpmini.net and cars.com, one more is at MINI of St Louis. I don't have links, but you can quickly find them.

Oh forgot, 0203 was also recently listed on Gpmini.net, so that makes 7 total for sale at the moment.

Edit: forgot one more. Prestige MINI has one on their website (need to search under new car listings) but the price is so ridiculous that I don't really count that one.

Guess you can tell Ive been looking recently ;)

Socially Distorted 02-11-2012 10:03 AM

don't forget Shawn's GP in Honolulu. I was trying to get things worked out to purchase this one. Monterey delivery with under 8k miles.

And then there is 1477 in Seattle.

Add in these and the total rises to 9 GP's that are for sale.

Here's the dude's link. Nice car, but what is up with the tiny gallery pics? Are the factory GP wheels included?

Socially Distorted 02-12-2012 02:14 PM

0256 is a solid car with documented history. GLWS Jim.

Curious to the history of the one at the Ford dealer.

Not sure, but from what people have posted it sounds suspect with missing numbers and parts. My internet contact inquiry returned a reply of "it has sold" from one of the sales people.

Jtrem 02-12-2012 10:38 PM

I figure it would have sold at that price. I would seriously pick it up at that price and return it to its former glory. I have been looking to pick up a GP for awhile.

Socially Distorted 02-13-2012 03:59 PM

GP 0491 in St. Louis has a signed purchase agreement. Another one off the market and soon heading to a new home. :)

JackMac 02-15-2012 08:50 AM

1456, 1477, 0256, and 0491 have all found new owners since last Friday. Wow!

0256 might be back up for sale. I have a funny feeling it isnt going to go thru. :o

Noonzio 02-17-2012 12:37 PM

Dang it, great looking car FlynScot - great price too. If I could get rid of my 05 MCS I'd jump on it! If you'd be interested in selling that JCW steering wheel separately let me know. And good luck with the sale of the car.
