What's a good rear view mirror to get for the MINI?
 

What's a good rear view mirror to get for the MINI? I've watched a video a while back and noticed the view was pretty good in the rear view mirror. It appeared to be a wide angle type. What do you use in your MINI?

I agree I am happy with OEM version on the 04.. But...
A concept I am looking for is a small round mirror.. Hopefully still framed in black.. Anyone have suggestions or pics.. Thanks :thumbsup:

Yeah, sometimes diving down into that corner with a guy on your outside, it'd be nice to see 'em so you don't wreck 'em. Not nice things to do on the track. How often are you on the track racing other cars?

i have this really big Billet Aluminum Flame mirror i can sell that was in my Silverado :lol:

For me the track is not a concern.. I don't track my MINI... I would expect those that do might want a wider reaer view mirror to not have any blind spots.

The round mirror I think would have to be convex to still show the corners behind the car... The reflection would be smaller than the OEM reflection - but that might be ok..

To be honest - I was fishing to see if anyone else has thoughts along this line.. And if there were any suitable options available..

Okay, well I'm planning to trck my MINI in the future and being around Bikeweek I've become scaraly aware of the small blind spots left, I've heard of some folks using a 5 faceted mirror but have encountered at least two problems 1. No supplier found yet 2. I have an 05 and apperantely the key fob reciever is in the OEM mirror, dos anyone know where to find a seperate (ideally suction-cuped to the windscreen) mirror to put over my passenger side area? Also I've seen the split mirror availible in the UK, anyone know who supplies these?

Hey Dom.....I was thinking on putting a M3 oval mirror in mine. It's a little wider I beleieve.

Search for WINK mirrors. This is the 5 pane mirror you're thinking of. I have one I'm not using that I used in other cars. They are amazing. Almost a 180 degree view.

I have this one. I think it was like $14 shipped from www.247motoring.com

270mm flat (i.e. not convex so no distortion at all), super reflective for cars with tints.

They also carry a version for regular non-tinted cars.

I have it in my 97 Toyota Rav4 as well.

Works great, cheap as heck, and simply clips on using two springs to your existing mirror (i.e. easily removable).

You won't want to get the 300mm in the Mini as it will interfere with the sun visors. It already does a little bit...but having 5% tints in rear, it greatly increases visibility and safety.

I have a sunroof and the sun visors are much shorter than cars without sunroofs. If you're comparing lengths and your car doesnt have a sunroof, then maybe I could get the 300mm mirror?

It's whether or not your sun visors are more narrow than stock. It's the the edges of the mirror that get nicked when you flip the visors down.

If this is the non-sunroof visors

So you can see that a sun-roofed car has narrower width visors with more space between them.

I'll try the 300mm version and see how that works


edit...I notice my spacing is off in the code for my above pics. Let's see if I can fix it. Ignore the dots!

Hm. Maybe the editor took out the spaces...But I gotcha now! Try it out! It has saved my *ss quite a few times...Helps pick up those blinds spots real well.......

This discussion has been focused on the internal rear view mirror, but enhancements can also be done for the outside side mirrors. The Multivex and OEM aspherical mirrors are both very good. See this thread.
