Stubby Antenna Reception

I just noticed that my MINI supposedly will be coming with a Stubby Antenna.

I've read that AM reception is poorer with them.

How can I replace it with a standard length antenna? Does it just screw in?

I changed to the stubby, no noticeable change in reception.

The antenna mast itself is for AM reception only. The FM antenna is built into the resr window glass and the satellite antenna is in the base of the antenna unit. Using a stubby antenna will only (possibly) impact AM reception.

Erm, I don't think so, My rear window defrost has been disconnected for months now in my R57 and I have good FM reception.

Some are the rear defroster, but the FM antenna is also built in.
