Pic of hitch Curt installed

Here's a pic. Super-low profile. Hardly noticeable. The wiring is in the trunk. I pull it out when the trailer is installed.

Thanks for sharing these pics and the part number. Looks great! You must be very happy with unobtrusive appearance.

Thank you!! Did you perform the installation yourself?

Heads up that the OutMotoring / MniDoMore F60 Hitch Receiver that hides completely behind the bumper is in pre-order mode, supposed to be shipping around May 18. May be a concern to some having to cut a hole in the bumper cover but I like that it doesn't affect the vehicle's rear clearance.

Also mentioning that they've had some David & Goliath legal problems with Curt Manufacturing copying their designs in the past but weren't able to follow through, if that affects your decision of what product you buy.

Hi all. Is anyone on the forums in or near Georgia? I reached out to Stealth Hitches which is outside Atlanta. They already make a stealth hitch for BMW (including the X1), and they're willing to do Mini hitches for the Countryman so long as someone brings their car in for the first install. It bolts on behind the bumper (no cutting), and then gives you the option of a 2" receiver which is a big deal for many of us since the 2" bike racks are so much better. And you can detach the receiver when not in use for ground clearance. They also told me the first car in gets a free hitch. If I was closer to Georgia, I'd go do it myself since I don't like that Curt requires an annoying strap to comply with warranty, and I don't love the idea of cutting into the bumper for the OutMotoring version. http://stealthhitches.com

I like that Stealth system. If I lived near them I'd go do it.

Sugar Hill, just northeast of Atlanta? Damn that's too far away for even a weekend road trip for me, on the order of 10 hours.

Company's only a year old but neat idea, I think a lot of the Euro hitches are detachable too and look similar?

But YIKES they *start* just under $500 and that doesn't include the receiver, drop bar or ball -- X1's clocks in at $677 for a combo 2"! Maybe I DO want a free one!

Looks like Stealth Hitches hasn't gained any traction on a new Countryman hitch...

Hi Tony,

Minis are on our development list as long as it does not have the center exhaust. We will try to get one in from the dealer by the end of the year. If a customer brings one in, we may have it earlier. I will keep you posted.

Price for a rack only hitch will be $448, tow only - $588 and combo $677.

Best regards,

Looks like the factory bits are available now:

https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=71_0970

Prices are basically comparable with the numbers from stealth hitches, $600+ range. I like it better, but not sure if I want to pull the trigger on it yet.

Disclaimer: I have no connection to Stealth Hitches -- I'm just a interested prospective buyer and noticed their website was updated.

Rack (1-1/4" or 2" box receiver) for $498
Tow (ball mount + wiring harness) for $658
Combo (box receiver + ball mount + wiring harness) for $757

I work 20 minutes from Stealth Hitches Sugar Hill. I asked about the hitch for my Countryman S All4 told them that i wanted to see one in person. They told me that they would have a few built by 4:00, today. I just bought the car 1 week ago and want something beefier than a Curt 1-1/4" receiver and without any powder coat/rust issues. I'll be looking mainly at the Rack Package with the 2" x 2" receiver.

I stopped in last night and came home with a box full of the combo pack. I normally wouldn't splurge so much on a hitch, but it is manufactured %100 here in GA. It looks to be a quality piece with nice welds, lasercut plates and brackets, SST mount block, and in-house powdercoating. With a lifetime warranty and being local to the manufacturer, it made it a bit less daunting to get the whole enchilada. Supporting a local business is a bonus, as well.

I'll be installing it sometime this week during the evening.

Do you have the kick to open tailgate? The OEM hitch isn't compatible with it and it has to be disabled to install the hitch, just wondering how that works with the Stealth Hitch.

My car does not have that feature... manual tailgate is what I got.

I just received the installation instructions and they make relocation provisions for the automatic/"kick" opening sensor.

The most difficult part was removing the flares. I partially broke the same tab that inserts into the bumper cover on both the driver's and passenger's side flares. They still clip effectively, though.

Took ~ 3 hours and I just have to finish up the wiring for the trailer lights. The instructions provided were pretty well written and informative. Tools necessary were called out for each step and all hardware locations were highlighted pretty clearly.

We'll be taking the bikes out to a trail this weekend to put the hitch to use.

Ugh! Why are all the hitch receivers only rated up to 2000 lbs?! We want to get a pop up and it is proving to be almost impossible to find something light enough. 😖

Anyone know if the UK hitches are legal in the US? I just found this site. Looks like the rating is over 4100 lbs! Super pricey though.

The vehicle is the load limitation, not the hitch/receiver. The attachment points are sandwiched between the bumper beam and the unibody rails for most, if not, all of them.

As with any rating, there is a factor of safety. You can tow more, just be gentle.

Installed a Curt 11522 on a 2017 Clubman. The instructions from Curt are incomplete and the pictures are dark, I highly recommend to follow the Hidden Hitch instructions to remove the rear bumper. The push pin plastic rivets that came with the hitch were the wrong size for my car, way too big, but you can reuse the old ones if you can find all the pins.
