About to add JCW Tuning Kit... Questions

Within the next couple weeks, I'm going to schedule the JCW Tuning Kit installation. I'm familiar with the improvements it makes over all. Increased HP, Exhaust selector, etc...

Questions:
Are there any visible changes that I'll see in the Control Display?
Meaning, the lbs torque, and hp displays on the Driving Experience display. Currently HP only displays up to 200. With the JCW Tuning Kit, it's possible to produce more.
Any other new display screens for JCW?

When I'm in GREEN and MID mode, will there be any changes? Sound, Performance, MPG usage, etc...

SFMCS 08-28-2018 05:38 AM

My MPG went up, in MID, with exhaust open, I get about 38 MPG combined, depending. I programmed mine to start in SPORT, exhaust always open. When driving in traffic in town, I am starting to put in MID mode, easier handling, less noise, and I do not "lead the pack" so much when starting from green light, after red. Best MOD I have ever done to the car, IMO. I'll look at the DE display today and report what it says.

Never go in Green!

I hear what you're sayin'
GREEN is very economical and challenging to keep the fish bowl on the roof. Nice for the day to day work drive. Saves gas. Then definitely motoring on the weekends!!!

I'll check my Carbon later today when I get off of work to see if those screens are different. I went into green once on the highway on a very crappy road to try and get a softer ride but other than that I never go there. I am curious to get this car on a long haul on the highway and see if open exhaust gets me better gas milage.

EnjoyRC 08-28-2018 09:21 AM

Thanks for taking the time to check your "Driving Experience" display screens.

Dont think my car has ever been in green mode since I got it! The tuning kit is worth it IMO for the exhaust alone. Its the best, most refined sounding exhaust ive heard on any F56. Although I will say, the bluetooth remote is trash and basically useless. The exhaust opens and close by itself like its nobodies business! Ive been on a 2 mile drives where I have to reopen the exhaust like ten times. I ended up going in the trunk and unplugging the exhaust connector from the control box so that fun mode is enabled 24/7 :) Tune was disappointing for me personally, but will suffice for most. Not sure about the displays either I would have to double check on that. Other than there are no other screens or extras that get added. Just exhaust, badge on engine cover, badge on back, and tune.

Best part is now everyone will think you have a JCW but little do they know

If you get an aftermarket tune does it stack on top of the JCW tune? In other words, JCW tune puts you at 208 and you add a 30HP tune you now have a 238 tune or does it ignore the JCW tune to just add the 30 to the stock HP?

In the case of a piggyback tune (like a JB4) the two would stack which would probably be too much power for the engine to handle. In the case of a flash tune, it doesn't matter if you had a stock tune or JCW tune. That tune is erased and the ECU is reflashed with a new tune.

Went to lunch and checked the screen. 240 HP and 240 torque is what the screen shows with the tune.

Ahhh.. so the coding update include these types of changes. Thank you for checking. Excited for my install date.

The JCW Pro Tune will work fine with a piggyback module. I ran mine for almost two years with the JCW tune and the NM Power Module. I did however keep the module on the low setting unless I was running octane booster or 100 octane gas. Never a hiccup as long as you know and understand the limitations of the combination. I’m now going into month nine with the BT Tage 1 tune. I have a Milltech DP, Helix I/C, BT spark plugs, and ArmaSpeed CAI, but haven’t felt the need for stage 2...... yet. I also keep a bottle of octane booster in the boot for the occasions that I can’t find top tier 93 octane or better.

Good to know, hence my italicized probably. I wasn't sure.

We've installed a few JCW kits on the F56 cars. But honestly for the money I would recommend going aftermarket as you can get more out of it for less money. And I really feel the Remus Exh beats the heck out of the JCW as it is much lighter, and had 4 modes to it, along with some sexy carbon tips.

Then go with a simple tuning module and gain even more. We have several options.

DE reads 240 on HP and torque.

Thanx for checking. Making my appointment. Now to decide between Chrome & Carbon Fiber tips.

vetsvette 08-30-2018 08:02 AM

CF tips are ridiculously expensive.

Agreed, just got a quote for carbon fiber tips for around $500 for the pair. Anyone know of them sold for less?

Loccusst 08-30-2018 09:09 AM

But they look sooooo good......

Carbon tips are crazy expensive. They can be bought 3rd party, but not sure of quality. Id put the $500 into something else or into my gas fund

What's with all the MINI warnings about running with open exhaust anywhere but the track?

Legal jargon to keep themselves out of trouble. If a product is sold and isnt technically approved for road use, the company will tell you the product is only for track and off road use to protect themselves. Im sure someone more knowledgable can elaborate more on the boring legal stuff

ECSTuning 08-30-2018 02:50 PM

They did that for sound regulation, like off road use only kind of thing. I talked to the product manager whom help design these kits. BTW they did go on sale. The tips did not go on sale, but all three main kits did.

Got mine on Ebay-the are stainless (polished) and are held on by pointed Allen screws. Sprayed mine with high temp black spray paint as I got tired of cleaning the carbon off of the interiors...you could mask the interiors and spray the outer rings.

My install/appointment is part of that sale. Nice price...
