Missing floor jack in trunk
Hi ppl,
So I am on Mini number 3 and had a question. I just traded in my 2015 Cooper 5 door on a new 2015 Cooper S 5 door. After cleaning it out from driving for the holidays, I decided to peek at the emergency essentials and it looks like I'm missing my "jack". I know I have no spare and I am on run flats but doesn't it still have a jack? Please confirm before I go asking WTF at my dealers lot. Thanks. |
My F56 w/ run flats didn't have a jack either. I assume their logic being w/ run flats you drive to get tire repaired or replaced. Roadside assistance being included also essentially eliminates the need for one also.
I too was surprised to find mine missing but after thinking about it, I came to the same conclusion they did. |
No jack for mine either ('15 MCS). I made my situation somewhat riskier by immediately exchanging the standard runflats for good conventional tires - but I added a Slime pump and puncture kit at least. I already had one flat tire (slow leak) and simply drove to the tire store for a good free repair job - that would have been far trickier with a runflat tire.

Whats a trunk? after 3 MINIs?

Great!
Thanks everyone for your prompt responses. I was debating on driving down to the store today if no one replied but that saves me a trip. |
Funny seen a 2014 f56 with the jack. Must be a change, 71121501930 * edit was thinking R56 .

F5x Cooper S MINIs don't come with a jack or tire iron - just the screwdriver and the tow hook. You can, however, order the bits from the Cooper models and they will fit in that compartment if you want them handy.

I know for a fact I had that same jack in my non S with spare tire. Going to call my sales guy just to make sure. He texted me this weekend to make sure I gave him all "10's" on the survey Mini usually sends out. I am sure he will make it right if its not.

Like I said, this is my first S so its always been black on my other minis Do any of y'all know if its normal for this light to get moisture behind it? Both of them are doing it.

Not that much. Must have been hit with a high pressure hose wash or the bulb socket seal needs re-seated and turned.
|
No high pressure washing. Just been raining here in GA.

Roadside Assistance finds non-runflat tire?
With only 200 miles on my MCS I replaced the OE runflat tires with good conventional Michelins. So what happens if I have to call MINI Roadside Assistance for a flat tire? With runflats, RA would be inclined to tow me to a dealer for an expensive replacement tire - but that wouldn't be necessary with conventional tires. Will they care that I don't have the factory runflats and now have a different type of tire instead? Have I jeopardized that part of the RA benefit?

For those folks that have a MINI with the original factory Pirelli Run Flat Tires, they automatically have Pirelly Road Hazzard warranty thru Pirelli. MINI would take care of you for the tow to a dealer if needed, and Pirelli willl pick up the cost of new tire ( pro rated ) MINI Service Dept has to billl out new Pirelli tire, take photo of the old tire, take prod # off of tire, and if possible take photo of the object in tire, and then measure tread depth for a claim as the customers cost for new tire is pro rated. Then coders for processing the claim at the dealer need only process it same as any other MINI warranty.....Have seen this done several times in the recent past. |

I have heard in some cases where that assistance was charged back to the customer when car no longer had runflats on....

Had Pirelli send me new tires once because of a road hazard. They took care of it. But You have to do a claim and have the tire info and everything. Can of fix a flat got me home.

I have run flats on my R52. Ordered a space saver spare. Almost fits in the bonnet (never said that before) but looks like if I let some air out of the space saver it might and I have a pump and fix a flat in my kit to reinflate. I would only take on long trip if I did at all.
