Was wondering if your Clubmans came with ambient lighting in the rear door map pockets. Mine had the holes drilled in for the LED lights, but didn't actually have the lights, which I thought was odd.

I ended up splicing in an RGB led into each door panel map pocket myself. Was there a build date where they stopped putting in the ambient lighting into the rear door pockets, or have they always been without?

 

Good catch! Mine is a pretty early one, built 1/16, and it doesn't have LEDs in the rear door pockets either. I'll check into the wiring this weekend and do the same if it's there. Did you have to remove the door panels or is there a less invasive way to find the wires?

EDIT: re-reading, I'm guessing there was no wiring for these LEDs at all and you took the signal from the LED at the door release.

 

Definitely need to remove the door panel. You are correct; I spliced into the four wires that go into the LED that lights the door handle. Wires are the power, and to control the colors.

 

I see there's no ambient lighting in the rear door map pockets on my 2017 Clubman. Interesting, probably never would have noticed!

 

Is there a way to put the multicolor ambient lighting in the Gen1 cars?
