Track TIME

So I have noticed many on the Euro site are a bit "click E" I am interested in some track time but I would like to go with some people famliar to the scene. If anyone is going to track their car, Id love to go... send and invite,

91Eunos 05-19-2008 11:27 AM

Where are you located? I go to the Nurburgring almost every weekend... Or do you mean actual wheel-to-wheel competition?

There's also a few Mini tuners/track prep shops around here in K-Town.

abuzavi 05-20-2008 01:21 PM

Mstty -- link up with 91, and drag Poppa Bear along for some track time. I am sure Loesches will show up (he' s just back from a long seperation from his car), and some others.

loesches 05-21-2008 12:35 PM

I am definitely down with some track time. I have a few things going on right now since I just got back but as long as I have a couple weeks notice I should be able to attend as well.

matty125 05-23-2008 07:45 AM

Sweet! I am interested in actual legal track time (circuit type) I am in Heidelberg. We have HockenHiem Here, BUT ID LOVE TO RUN THE RING. I am free most every weekend so anytime any of us can get togeather Im down. Also if anyone wants help working on their MINI I have two useful hands.
IS there anyone running a circuit this weekend?

91Eunos 05-24-2008 02:44 AM

The 'Ring is closed to "tourists" for a 24-hour race this weekend (otherwise I'd be there now!): http://www.nuerburgring.de/events.10.0.html

My schedule's about to get crazy as I prep for my deployment in July but I'll try to make it up there a few more times between now and then. I have a Jahr Karte and still have 30 or so laps to go before I break even!

Hockenheimring has open track days a few times/year but I've not had a chance to hit that yet. I may go w/a friend at teh end of June (if I'm in town) for the Porsche open house event there.

matty125 05-25-2008 07:34 AM

Thats a bummer you have to leave Germany for that Deployment. Next time you go, send me an invite, Im pretty good about being spontaneous, I definetly would like to experience the Ring with people that have been there before. You know, people who know the ins and outs, rules and what not.

abuzavi 05-25-2008 07:37 AM

I heard something about open track day at Hockenheim on the 29th.

Henry, Nick said you guys were going -- any truth to that?

WP4LDU 05-25-2008 02:01 PM

Hi!
I'm planning to go on the 29th of May. I think they are open from 6PM to 9PM on Thursday. So, we can meet over there. Entrance per person is 3 euros and for the car is 12 euros for 15 minutes around 8 laps. Henry

abuzavi 05-25-2008 10:04 PM

Well, count me out. Movers arrive Friday morning.....

I'll dig into the details but I may be able to make it... Especially if it's at night.

abuzavi 05-26-2008 09:33 PM

Henry, I'll try and call at work this week. Thursday night might actually work, if I can tag along. Thursday is prep for the movers day, but by the evening, we should be done.

Poppa Bear 05-27-2008 03:16 AM

Fellas, I won't be able to make this one - work! As I've got some use or loose and would love to catch a weekday run there, how about another run on 19 June? I'm just chuckin dates out. Scott?

Cheers!!

loesches 05-27-2008 08:39 AM

I think I can make it on the 19th. Of course I have to run it by the CINC, but as of now, I don't have anything on the calendar for that day yet.

Did you check the schedule to see if it is open that day?

I can pick you up at your house. Henry

Hi Matty125! They open at 4:00PM and close at 09:00PM. The entrance fee is 3 Euros per person at the gate, just to see people driving around and take pictures. Then if you want to drive your car on the track is 12Euros per car and you can take as many people on your car for 15 minutes, around 8 laps. Henry

matty125 05-28-2008 11:12 AM

Sounds good, I wish I had a larger intercooler about now
ANyone else going? Ill most likely plan on after 5 pm.

91Eunos 05-28-2008 01:54 PM

I looked on Hockenheim's website and saw the info on the "tourist" driving but it's not on their calendar for March 29th... Am I missing something?

Willing to throw the track tires on and come up regardless just for the drive! See you guys there!

My son has an exhibition baseball game but I think he'll understand if I have an opportunity to drive an F1 track!

WP4LDU 05-28-2008 02:27 PM

I found the information:

Mai

Do, 08.05.2008 18 - 20 Uhr
Do, 15.05.2008 18 - 20 Uhr

I was about to ask for the long range calendar for Hockenheim when I found in on the German side of the site. Nothing like that under the English side but its there.

Cheers!!

Just got back from the Track, very happy to finally meet some of you! My tires really got chewed, but that was a lot of FUN:thumbsup:
91.... can you send the make and model of those wheels, Id like to l;ook up the SPECs:)

WP4LDU 05-29-2008 10:57 AM

Sorry Guy's!

Sorry, Couldn’t make it to the track. I was going home to change after work, and got a phone call that one of my soldiers had a car wreck. Went to the hospital soldier is ok, car is totaled. Well next time. Henry

I'll do you one better! I'm posting pics to my gallery as I ype this (should be up in a second). Here's a link to the tires on the Tire Rack (where they were purchased (and where I buy almost all my wheels, tires, brakes, etc.): http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....orce+T%2FA+KDW

215/50ZR16s are $125 each plus shipping/handling... I'll sell them to you for $100 each. As you can see in the pics they're brand new--as delivered (never been mounted).

Here's a link to the rim at Tire Rack (again, where these were purchased). I have Dunlop Z1s mounted on them right now but am going to transfer those over to some SSRs as soon as they come in. I've had them on the car for 3 or 4 weeks...

The Kazeras were $149 each plus shipping, I'll sell them to you for $75 each (1/2 price) and throw in the tuner lugs (I paid 65 Euro for them).

I highly recommend you get the 14mm - to- 12mm studs from Texas Speed Works (I have them on my car). Your car (like my late-build 2006) has very odd thread pitch 14mm bolts that won't clear many after market rims. I couldn't use any of my racing rims w/the stock bolts and wanted to convert to studs/lugs anyway so I went w/their awesome setup. Here's the link: http://www.txwerks.com/servlet/Detail?no=42 They're $90 and worth every penny...very high quality parts.

You can get just the studs or studs and lugs but the Kazera rims need what's called a "tuner" lug due to the tight clearance on the holes in the rim.

Let me know... I have a guy my village here w/a Hunter 9000 road force balancing machine who can mount them up for you too.
