Won't hold idle after work performed
 

Hey gang, I tried searching and couldn't find anybody that ran into the issue I'm having

Tonight, I tackled a split intercooler coupler, and a failed harmonic dampener.

Before the work, I had a check engine light, combined with a high idle.

After replacing the intercooler couplers, I started the vehicle, and it idled fine.

Replaced the harmonic dampener and installed a new belt. Now, the car will not hold an idle, and a quick drive around the block keeping the revs up shows that it's running VERY rich, with smoke coming out of the exhaust.

Computer is not showing any codes. I have pulled the intercooler back off to check for any noticeable lines loose or any other evidence I damaged something. no such luck.

What's my next step? Anybody run across something like this before?

I can't think of anything up front that would cause this kind of issue unless you somehow damaged our disconnected a sensor, (Cam sensor would be the only thing up front, but it almost sounds like the Map Sensor in the intake) or possibly idler or tensioner issue that isn't turning the SC properly. (But it should still idle properly) I'm wanting to say that something maybe got damaged our unplugged when using the belt tool.
Those are my only guesses.

You're actually correct!!!

Ended up finding that I probably whacked the purge solenoid valve with the serpentine belt tool. It was sticking open, causing the engine just to suck gas fumes straight from the tank, so it wouldn't idle... a quick search for the Delphi part number (delphi 1997278) online found a match for a Saturn Vue at the local store for 30 bucks!!!

Glad to hear it.
Also, do a couple of start and stops in case the ECU started to try and adapt for the issue.
