thanks,

17% for over a year, 30k+ miles, belt changed once (NAPA to gatorback), with 1 step colder NGK plugs.. it performs impressively well for just a 17% , HAI and one-balled car.. (creeping away from 1.8T GTI with chip, dp and cb.., staying with 4th gen eclipse gt .. the one with 260+ hp... 6-speed with high flow cat, cat-back and intake.. until 1XX mph...) the car pulls very very hard and bounces off the limiter before you know it..

before the plugs, in low rpm, heavy load, the car was not smooth, it would accelerate pretty roughly. however, once the new plugs went it, made a huge difference.. you should plan on getting some injectors, preferably JCWs or something eqaulvilant, 380CC.. and some ECU tunes.. GIAC, MTH, etc... cuz my car has flat spot at high rpm range.

I've had my Alta v2 17% for a little over 1000 miles now with no problems. I did everything at once - CAI, Milltek exhaust, 17% pulley, colder plugs and new wires - and it is a new animal! It's like a rabid weasel and screams all the way through the gears! I went with the 17% because I wanted more punch in the lower RPMs since I hardly wind it up during my commute.

I have a 17% and its perfect, t was the second mod I did after intake. But if you look below I never stopped moding at that was only 11 months ago.

thanks for the response everyone, i already have the pulley just wanted to see what are the other items that really whould be done at the same time.

what kinda of plugs is everyone using?

 bump!!

I have had a 17% pulley for 3 years now. I change the belt yearly. Had the ECU tuned by LuckyDOG garage last spring and dyno'ed at 197 whp with a bad belt tensioner. I went back to the oem plugs at the same time and have had no issues. Only other performance mods are ALTA CAI and Sportone exhaust. I've done 3 track days with this setup and absolutely love it.

I've had my 17% pulley for about a year now. I have a DDM CAI,Milltek exhaust, nology wires and colder plugs. I remeber the test drive after putting it on and all I can say is "WOW". It pulled so hard at low RPM's that I couldn't belive it. I'm Very happy I went with the 17%. I'm sure you will get the same grin on your face as I had after putting it on.

I have a 17% too and I am lovin it so far. I got the 2% crank pulley at the same time as well. Thinkin about getting the ECU tuned pretty soon here, any recommendations on what route to take? I have ALTA CAI and no aftermarket exhaust, should i get the exhaust first and then tune the ECU?

gvoelker Sep 12, 2007 03:55 PM

I have a 17%, GIAC, 380 cc injectors and an Alta v2 Intake.

Car pulls like a train compared to stock. It almost feels as fast as my GTI 1.8T with all the bolt ons did. Maybe a header and exhaust will put it over!

HHFD633 Sep 12, 2007 05:25 PM

paul you said you went back to stock plugs. what did you have before any why did you switch back?

17%, larger Alta IC, CAI, Borla exhaust, nology wire but oem plugs No issues in 15000 miles...

vdubdoug Sep 15, 2007 08:15 AM

This is my second mini I have run the 17% pulley on. I love the low end grunt and lack of traction in first gear.

My present 05 is running the 17% pulley, 380cc injectors, Alta drop in filter, Giac tune, Coated intervooler, and Custom alta 2.5" exhuast, stock plugs too. The car is a blast ot drive and i have about 10k on this setup with no issues.

gvoelker Sep 15, 2007 11:52 AM

You pretty much have the same setup as me doug. Just curious, how much did the exhaust help? Or did you do the exhaust first and then put on the supporting mods?

And maybe the color affects hp too.

vdubdoug Sep 15, 2007 05:20 PM

I added the exhuast after the pulley and other stuff. it helps the car breath better on the top end and the alta exhuast make a nice wooshing sound at 6k in first and second. Almost evil sounding :)

norm03s Sep 15, 2007 11:01 PM

17% for 40K here too

Thanks Doug! I think I'll be adding a header/exhaust SHORTLY

Hi, I run the GOODYEAR Gatorback POLY-V on a 17% Supercharger reduction pulley from Helix13. The last one I ran for 42.5K which was just about 10K to long, it was stretched out and cracking on the inside. I was watching it just to see how it would wear. I changed it before there was a problem or it broke. IMHO this is the best size and belt for for this application.

I would recommend changing out this belt @ 30K to be safe.

The GOODYEAR Gatorback POLY-V part # and description are;

4060537, 6PK1365.

norm03s Sep 29, 2007 12:19 PM

TIP
The local Auto Zone store carries this belt in stock, the last one I bought there and got change back from a twenty dollar bill.
The first one I bought from a Good Year store that didn't have it in stock and had to order it charged $35 + tax.

GOODYEAR Gatorback POLY-V part # and description are;

4060537, 6PK1365.

NGK Iridium

HHFD633 Sep 30, 2007 03:59 PM

norm that great thanks

ViVi^BoY Oct 6, 2007 10:19 AM

will the car run too lean if without fit in ecu or header after fitted 17% supercharge pulley ?

I recently bought a 17% supercharge pulley, running iridium ik22, remus cat back exhaust and alta version air filter.

Sushkin Oct 7, 2007 04:08 PM

I'm running 17% alta v2/Alta CAI v2/Ik22's and the gatorback and runs like a champ. I'll be honest though the pulley install was a pain, maybe I was expecting more then I got but it is faster.
