Non-BMWCCA driving schools?

I'm seriously bummed. I was hoping to attend a driving school session prior to the Dragon, so that I could take full advantage of the road, but the first 2006 session offered by the Boston BMWCCA chapter is May 4th (AKA day one of the Dragon). The next one isn't until July! :impatient

I know that BMWCCA's schools are supposed to be head and shoulders above the rest, but which other ones are worth considering? I'm in Boston, and would be up for driving pretty much anywhere in New England or eastern New York.

Am I just out of luck - is April too early for these to start up?

Thanks,
Chris

"head and shoulders" seems like a strong statement to me. From my experience, I wouldn't agree, but I'm in a different part of the country.

Here's a link that might be of use:

I've been to Carguys performance driving school and was pretty impressed with the seat time and set-up. All of the instructors seem to be current/previous SCCA or NASA drivers w/ their own vehicles that they race. You have to use your own vehicle on this one, though. . . If you don't mind traveling down to WV--Summit Point Raceway (where I went) they have a class March 3,4,5 and in late May. . .check em' out. .

You need to look beyond the Boston and white mountain chapters. There are others that do Lime Rock which is closer to you then most other.
I know NHIS is closest to you, so do check out SCDA as they have a track day in April at NHIS. They are an excelent group.

Thanks, Lime Rock is definitely an option since I grew up in Litchfield County and go back there regularly. So far I've only seen that track from above, hiking on the adjacent ridge.

A couple of other leads

Trackmasters allows all makes of cars. they do schools at Watkins Glen. Ditto for Trackquest and/or Chin Motorsports. also at WGI. Their dates may be too late for your immediate need, but it's good to know there are options. also Watkins Glen is a "must drive" track. I live about 30 miles west of Boston and it is not a bad drive at all. You can do it in 6 hours.

Good point Drew, well this may help someone else in finding track schools, at least in the North East. I have a good buddy who does several Trackmasters events per year and tells me it is first class, good instruction, very high priority on safety and track ediquitte, they have groups for all skill levels. I have only 3rd hand knowledge of Trackquest / Chin but what I hear is also good. they also have driving schools / track days at more venues.
