Evolution autocross school
Evolution autocross school
I think I'll be doing this school this year. Anyone else done it before? I've been autocrossing for a couple years now but I've only done one school. I think it will be great learning from national level drivers.
I did an Evo school at Danville (VA) airport about 5 years ago. Unfortunately, I started AX-ing in 1970. Two years of AX experience before an Evo school sounds like much better timing.
The schools and instructors vary somewhat, but ours emphasized looking very far ahead. I thought I had always been looking far ahead, but not far enough apparently. From the passenger seat they want to see the back of your helmet when you're looking far left, and for their head to be in the way when you're looking far right.
Some students had to be convinced to slow down in (not over-drive) the tight sections in order to keep the car better balanced and ready to accelerate out as soon as possible. In fact, car positioning and balance were key areas to work on.
Two different instructors drove my rear-engined car; one thought it was a great AX car, and the other thought it was horrible.
