Racing/autocross virgin

I never used to care much about cars before I got my mini.

I have a base R56 mini cooper with DSC and 15" all-season tires. I have never raced or autocrossed before, and I'm thinking of just showing up on Oct 28 to a BMW CCA autocross event at Commerce Ballpark in Bridgewater, NJ.

Any tips? Anyone interested in going?

Go! Bring an open mind. Take rides in other people's cars. Let someone else (who knows what they are doing) drive your car with you as a passenger. Have fun! Bring water to drink, sunscreen, and rain gear. Avoid the temptation to mod your car before you know what's what. It will take a few years before you need to mod the car to go faster. For a long time, you'll keep getting faster just by becoming a better driver.
