Done! Haven't had it out on the road yet, but I can hear the difference parked. It is slight, but noticeable.

I love Austria!

Murker1991 09-26-2010 10:05 AM

any ideas if this would work on an r56 one?

drewstermalloy 09-26-2010 12:31 PM

This is for an R56 Cooper.

Murker1991 09-27-2010 09:58 AM

Well I know that but I want to know if it will work on an r56 one aswell

Oxybluecoop 09-27-2010 11:07 AM

Yes it will work. The One has a different shaped air filter housing but shares the same intake muffler as the Cooper.

Now that I’ve had it out, I like!

I’m wondering what this mod would sound like, in combination with a Megan Racing Exhaust. And I’m also assuming that this exhaust will work on a Gen 2...

panerai 10-27-2010 03:32 AM

would this work on a Cooper D ?

scottquake58 11-01-2010 01:58 PM

Did this today! Slight noticeable difference!!

I did the tape yesterday, seems to be a slight bit quieter at idle and revving up through about 1800 RPM. Then it feels like it shoots from 1800 through 2800 RPM with a smooth punch, very noticeable as compared to without the tape. Feels more responsive at highway speeds and moved up passed 70 to 80 very smoothly and quickly. Not sure is sound is affected at all, maybe slightly more noise, which is a good thing. Temp here in the NE is 50 F, not sure if that is a factor in any way.

Update: it's been a week now and the car is definitely more spirited in local as well as highway driving. It does seem a bit louder through the revs...or maybe it's just me having more fun and pressing harder that makes it sound louder!

Anyone with an MCS try this yet? I'd like ot hear what, if any effect, it had on a forced-induction engine.

Not to be a @$$hole but this is a non-s part of the forum  . JK. I would imagine it would do the same to the MCS as it would to the MC. The two intakes aren't very much different in the silencer box. Same goes to panerai with the Cooper D. The silencer intake boxes are pretty much the same. So the outcome of the performance should be the same. Try and let the rest of the forum know. But for the MCS there are a few intakes out that work great on it. A friend has the Defenders Of Speed intake and it sounds AWESOME! Plus the performance side of it is just as good.

As I previously stated it should work the same. as long as the boxes are the same haven't been under the hood of a Cooper D yet. Look at pics and compare them to yours. If at all else just do it and let forum know how it turned out.

Thanks you for not being an *******.

I searched and this was the only thread with any real value to the topic.

Can't hurt to ask, right?

No problem.... It should work for you just the same as it would us. Why you would want to do it other than saving a few bucks I don't know. But you're right it doesn't hurt to ask. That's the main reason why the forum's here. To help others out with info they don't have. It's a real easy do it yourself mod. I didn't try it and just went straight for my own cone CAI, with not having any options at the time.

I found this thread and tried it on my clubman - it def has a little more grumble at takeoff and a little louder in the mid-range - not sure about power increase..... But it sounds cool..

Not bad for the price!!

Here is a video of our Cooper.

Will need to try this. Thanks guys!

Did the mod a week ago - after driving pretty hard over the last few days - I have decided I like it. It gives it a subtle, but noticeable "throaty" sound. My wife even commented on it without nowing I made the mod.

corin.mcblide 02-29-2012 04:15 PM

DDM just came out with an intake for the justa's and i just installed it today. i'll get a video up in the near future. i tried with my cell but it didn't pick up the intake noise.

conrad0102 03-26-2012 01:44 PM

anything like this for the JCW stage 1 intake? I haven't really done any research yet, just looking around

conrad0102 03-26-2012 02:20 PM

Is there something like this for the JCW stage 1 intake?

synzeus 03-27-2012 04:35 AM

Has anybody removed the silencer and connect a Cold Air Tube?

http://minispeed.gr/images/uploads/R...BE_300x219.jpg

ammodave 03-27-2012 07:32 AM

I removed the silencer and put in a straight tube made from a mandrel bent exhaust fitting (see my gallery). After a few weeks of increased intake noise, I went back to stock. I didn't notice any increase in performance just a throaty intake sound.

Ive's Mini 03-30-2012 02:57 PM

I did the duct tape deal the other day. I covered all 4 holes. I love the sound and so far the car feels stronger mid throttle and my mileage went up. I'm still trying to figure out if its real or in my head, but I am very pleased with this 10 minute upgrade!
