Mini Coperr

Hi,
Is anyone know if the 2005 Mini have the same transmission as 2002 or it's different, i have problem with my Mini 2005 transmission but it's little strange, the problem is that the fifth speed stuck and don''t wont to be released the shift handle is moving from 1st till the fifth and it look like the gears are moving inside but nothing happened and you can't remove your feet off of the clutch, the engine become noise and gone off.
If any of can help with some information please.

Different...
In 2005 MINI dropped the trouble prone midlands 5 speed and switched to the 5 speed getrag.......they are NOT interchangeable from my understanding...there is a different number of splines on the axles/halfshafts.....

...............The MC also had similar tweaks that resulted in slightly more torque and better power power throughout the range. However the biggest change to the drivetrain of the Cooper was the introduction of the Getrag 5-speed gearbox in place of the problem prone and rather ancient Midlands manual unit. The new gearbox produced better feel and real feedback – a big step up indeed............
