I am in need of a new or used stock Tachometer for a 1986 Austin Mini. Anyone know where I might find one? I am frustrated cause I can't find one anywhere. I know someone bought one recently cause I saw him asking how to install it on another forum. Please let me know ifyou have one or know where I might find one.

Are you sure it's the tach?? Have you checked the wire between it and the distributor?? or the wire connection on the bcak of the guage as it can fall off from vibration

Now is this a 3 clock oval binicle in centre of dash with a tacho added like this.......

.....or a later 3 clock like this....

as the top one needs to be wired in ...where the bottom has it prewired into loom..............

It is a three clock setup like the bottom picture. That is a fabulous dash, what year is that mini, I would like to try and do something like that with my mini. Thanks for all the comments.

I checked the input for the back of the tach and it is getting a solid signal coming in from the distributor. I assume it is just a simple voltage signal that goes up and down telling the tach the rpm's. Do you know another way to trouble shoot the problem?Originally Posted by miniroll
