(VTEC) Updated pics and info!

I picked my mini up today. It was at the Honda tuners getting the K-Pro tweeked.
Runs like a champ.
Here are a couple of pics from today.

Phil Duldulao 03-08-2009 04:39 AM

Awesome! We want to see more!! Here's an interesting fact, Minis and Honda's are distant cousins, the founder of honda, Soichiro Honda got his inspiration for the original civic from the mini, I believe he owned a mini himself...

See my thread titled "vtec spy photos" for a better look.

LOL Awesome. I like the autobot emblems on it.

pjku79 03-09-2009 09:48 AM

Travis,
What are you using to hold down the hood, strap-wise? Mine doesn't have straps right now which is fine most of the time, but if I am hard on the brakes like at an autox the hood will slide forward. So, I will need something soon.

MINIdave 03-09-2009 11:20 AM

That's a really clean install, nicely done!

But not exactly 10 inchers, are they?

meno 03-09-2009 07:29 PM

East German Judge, "Very nice."

Looks good, Friend. I don't know how you keep the windscreens so clean though...that's amazing!

I like your little purple jeep, too.....you got all of the toys. :)

bgrant570 03-10-2009 09:32 PM

Looks short (and SWEET!). Is it a "minus" shell?

itsminibtch 03-10-2009 10:50 PM

wow this classic is cleeeaannn... i love seeing old cars kept up like this.

travis 10 incher 03-11-2009 03:02 PM

Thanks...I think.
No it is not a Minus Shell.

It is a steel shell 1962 MK1 mini shell.

Mine looks lower/shorter because I used "crazy visual effects".
In other words, I did something that most dont do and it make it look lower than most.
Look at the pics, whoever can figure it out....you'll win a cookie.

meno 03-11-2009 03:32 PM

I can't tell and I wanted that damn cookie, too!

bgrant570 03-11-2009 03:59 PM

Uh, painted the sills black? And yes, it was a compliment!!! It looks great!

Looks great - I want one!

(does your left front need a camber check?)

travis 10 incher 03-11-2009 04:47 PM

Camber/Castor needs adjustment on both wheels.
I just got a home alignment kit and will give it a try.

By the way, bgrant, which kind of cookie would you like?

The sills are not painted by the way, they, and the bottom side of the car are rhino lined (spray in bed liner).
It was really an accident. I wasn't specific when I told my painter what went where.

Everyone comments on how low it looks and I finally figured out why that is.
It is such a minute thing but it does make a difference I think.

I think it looks great! Chocolate chip is fine. How did they rhino line it? On a rotissiere (sp)?

DixonL2 03-13-2009 05:21 AM

It's the arches/flaps cutting down on dead-cat space (wheel gap). Looks facntastic.

travis 10 incher 03-13-2009 12:47 PM

I'm sorry. The game is already over.
Cookies have been spoken for.
The arches can only go in one spot, at least on the seem end. They can roll a bit as long as the seem end meets, well, the seem.

It was the sills being black.

.....didn't us a rotissiere but boy I will next time...

macmanron 03-19-2009 08:26 PM

Travis, is this the MK1 mini you got a while back? It looks very very nice.

travis 10 incher 03-20-2009 11:36 AM

Yes it is. Well, it was November 2007.
After a soda blast, new sills, a rear valance, door skins, door hinges, A panels, boot lid, epoxy primer, two paint jobs (both times blue) and almost every nut/bolt replaced (actually every bolt now that I think about it, this is the result.
The only thing I can think of that is still from 1962 is the shell and the trunk hinges.

By the way, thanks.
