It's looking better:thumbsup: I was wondering about that fit when you first showed those pics before. What a pain in the a$$.

Agreed, I was most dissapointed with the bonnet.
|
HOW DID you attach the upper trim of the grill?
|
I will have to take pics when I pick her up this weekend.

So I get the bloody thing fixed and then the hinge point gives out.
In sharp contrast to the quality in every other thing I ordered from Minitec the fiberglass front is garbage. https://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j...Beastie-01.jpg https://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j...Beastie-02.jpg https://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j...Beastie-03.jpg https://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j...Beastie-04.jpg https://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j...Beastie-05.jpg https://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j...Beastie-06.jpg https://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j...Beastie-07.jpg https://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j...Beastie-08.jpg https://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j...Beastie-09.jpg https://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j...Beastie-10.jpg https://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j...Beastie-11.jpg https://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j...Beastie-12.jpg https://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j...Beastie-13.jpg https://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j...Beastie-14.jpg https://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j...Beastie-15.jpg https://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j...Beastie-16.jpg https://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j...Beastie-17.jpg https://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j...Beastie-18.jpg https://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j...Beastie-19.jpg https://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j...Beastie-20.jpg https://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j...Beastie-21.jpg https://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j...Beastie-22.jpg https://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j...Beastie-23.jpg https://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j...Beastie-24.jpg https://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j...Beastie-25.jpg https://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j...Beastie-26.jpg https://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j...Beastie-27.jpg https://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j...Beastie-28.jpg https://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j...Beastie-29.jpg https://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j...Beastie-30.jpg https://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j...Beastie-31.jpg https://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j...Beastie-32.jpg https://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j...Beastie-33.jpg https://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j...Beastie-34.jpg https://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j...Beastie-35.jpg https://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j...Beastie-36.jpg https://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j...Beastie-37.jpg https://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j...Beastie-38.jpg https://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j...Beastie-39.jpg https://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j...Beastie-40.jpg https://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j...Beastie-41.jpg https://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j...Beastie-42.jpg https://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j...Beastie-43.jpg https://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j...Beastie-44.jpg https://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j...Beastie-45.jpg |
I CAN'T believe they went to fiberglass mount when they used to be metal.
there is too much stresss there and fiberglass will give no matter how thick it is. |
no it was aluminum..... hinged on a STEEL THREADED BOLT.
Same issue though. |
how tight was the bolt?
are you saying the aluminumb broke? |
Yes, THIN aluminum will not swivel around a threaded steel bolt without wearing down the metal.
It was not tight, as it was intended to function as a hinge. That is the real crux of the issue. It's a poor design choice. I had reinforced the other side with steel, and was intending to do the same on this side, but id broke prior to getting around to the fix. Just happy there was no additional damage to the paint from it. |
WOW, THAnks for the tip, I'll to reinforce mine.
BTW if you have not done so, you'll need to upgrade those cheap shocks that will not hold the hood up. |
Thanks, I will keep that in mind also.
|
How difficult would it be to convert it to hinge forward?
