Congrats on your first Dragon run. I guess the brakes are broke in now.

Quote: Just got home from TN. I got to check out the Dragon for the 1st time. It was pretty fun & I almost had the road all to myself. But...I did run into one of the dreaded lost, rookie 18 wheelers. Luckily he was being escorted through by 4 motorcycles & they warned me in just enough time so I could slam on my brakes about 2 seconds before I would have met him on a blind curve (& probably driven under him thus rendering myself permanently topless lol )

I had the same problem, but only the rear pads. I have an 04 MCS w/ no brake mods, but suspension mods (springs and sway bar). I changed out my pads and I get a squeak at slower speeds and then a squeek while the tire rotates at slow speeds (0-30 mph). I should let you know that I changed the pads out myself. I've had plenty of brake replacement experience and nothing was out of whack on the replacement job. I've taken the pads apart a few times and nothing is rubbing against the rotor. The pads are wearing a little strange. I am going to change out the pads to new ones to see if it was bad pads or something else.

Brake need replaced light
So if you didn't know you will know. The Mini has a light that will come on when you need to replace your brakes. Yes mine came on today and I didn't have any idea what it was so to the owner manual I went. Guess I will make a run to Stephen's Garage.

The brake sensor light is an easy fix, only if you've replaced the pads. You can do a search on here about it, but here's a quick overview. The sensor wire is about $20-$25 from the dealer. Once the wire touches the rotor the wire shorts and there is no way to turn off the light, short of replacing the wire. Now, if there is just a short somewhere, you can turn the key into the second position, depress the brake peddle for about 30 seconds and the light should turn off... that's the most of my research. I hope this helps, let me know if you have any questions.

However, if you have my kind of luck, the brake sensors are not on the wheels where you have brake problems and you will be alerted to the brake problem when the pads disintegrate and the backing plates start grinding on the rotors!

Well I just replace my brakes today. I also put on two new sensors. I started at 7:30 this morning and just now finshed up with the job.

I will try to do a write up about it on my website later tonight.

edit. pictures are now up on my site at http://www.magicmini.com/images/brakes/
