Beats me. I have the LED headlights and fog lights. IIRC they are a hybrid. Part LED and part incandescent.

Nice, my only worry is the coding. Keep us updated please.

I would suggest waiting before buying any as there is a new option that should be available soon and more cost effective than what is available now.

I bought the ECS ones and they didn't work like the OEM ones. The ECS ones lit up like the ones below... I'm already not happy with the output on the OEM ones, they should light up way more for safety reasons. These just made me to nervous.
https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.nor...877294254b.jpg My JCW is a 19 model and I already have the UJ lights, I just wanted the blackout versions guess they're aren't any actual OEM ones. P.S. - I also bought a set from Ebay and those were the same result. |

In looking at the UJ taillights, the brake lights look rather "minimal" to me.
There is a pic. The top of the pic is the turn signal, while the bottom of the pic is the brake light. Doesn't that look rather small? BTW, the full UJ is the driving/parking light. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.nor...26df029202.jpg

There should be no coding with the aftermarket UJ lights, it is plug & play. The extra module (black box) takes care of that.

Ive coded both the inner and outer union jack sections* to act as daytime running lights and always be on.
You could try experimenting with having one of the brake output sections to also light up one of the union jack sections The two or three times i worked on this - My PoC/experiments start DunkMs postings as a baseline and work out from there From the UK board thread - Might help in your proof of concept/experimenting in coding https://www.minif56.com/threads/new-....79058/page-13 *I grabbed the mini UK by mulgari lights. Blacker finish is from a coating added inside the lens. Brightness is pretty good.....Currently working as the EU output for turn and brake |
Wanted to update this as I've just figured out the fix for it. My car is a US spec LCI Mini Cooper (i.e. after Mar 2018) with halogen front and backs to help others identify. I have fitted the US market UJ tail lights. On top of DunkM's instructions at the top of this thread, in order to get the lights working correctly the following is also required
3065 - MAPPING_BLINKEN_2_H_L_OUTPUT - was set to "off" - change to bl_l 3065 - MAPPING_BLINKEN_2_H_R_OUTPUT - was set to "off" - change to bl_r Now I have the indicators flashing when brakes are applied as they should and no errors at all. And they look seriously cool :-) |

Nope, they are together like US spec LCI cars - it is a US mini, with US UJ parts.
|
Is the general consensus to get the Euro version or the US version for the OEM UJ taillights? Coding is not an issue for me.
|
I would stick with the US spec, the UK is such a small bit of brake light.
|
I have the Helix Brand aftermarket lights. I guess they would be more like the Euro type since they have the yellow turn and narrow brake lights. I plan to code my rear fogs as brake lights anyway, so I'm not bothered by the brake light. Besides, I paid $265 for the pair vs the big bucks for OEM.

Union Jack not lighting up
I have a 2017 F55. Took the leap and installed the Union Jack lights today. Used the bimmercode app and instructions on the first page of the thread. Lights work for blinker and brake on the sideways T but the Union Jack won't light up. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.nor...fa664f7bea.jpg Only the bars are lit, Union Jack portion has no light |
Getting the body of the union flag to light up as side light (DRLs) bugged me for a while.
Im using bimmercode to code. Try this: I backed out of 'expert' mode - and in the main options for the BDC module i found an on/off option for DRLs for the rear. I had it OFF the whole time. toggle to on, code, and the body of the UJ flag should now be DRL/side lit. |
I tried the daytime running lights, still nothing. No running lights at all. Side Union Jack doesn't light up with brakes either.

Started from original coding, removed all upgrades. Reversing lamp left as bulb.
https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.nor...d2082035e1.jpg Should this daytime running lamp also be LED? I think it's for the front. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.nor...5315992777.jpghttps://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.nor...5c18e97a06.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.nor...d361608f7e.jpg |
DRLs in that case refers to the front, do have LED headlights?
Let me get a screen of my settings and post. I have the LED headlight package fyi |
