I think that the cash bar with 1 or 2 free drink tickets is a good idea for reducing costs!

We'll be back. We enjoyed an unexpected highlight of the weekend; not deciding to go until we heard that there were tickets available on Saturday. What a Great Time! It sounds like you are making terrific efforts to make a great event even better. And with all of the feedback you've been getting, it's tough to think of something not already covered!

I'm sure you've already considered the following, but I'd suggest having more than one entrance/exit if possible. And if you can control where the bar goes, make it so that the paths don't cross.

As far as the bar goes, as long as I can play I'm not worried about free drink coupons. If I get one, terrific. If not, that won't keep me from going. And if it is a busy bar, it would be nice to have enough Fontana bartenders available (last year: the wait for a drink at MCN, not so bad; '06 Farewell dinner, not so much).

And this year I'll read the gaming rules more carefully ahead of time. Looking forward to it.

I attended last year with Minicoopersgirl and had a wonderful time and I didn't even gamble, I gave my money away but still have fun watching others and hanging out.

I think a cash bar is the way to go and skip giving free drinks out. Tshirts are nice but once again I don't need one to enjoy the evening.

This event was a nice change of pace for MOTD and I'm glad to see it coming back, put me down as coming .

chiming in a little late, but I would ditch the free booze, hit the sponsors and do what you have to keep it $40.00 or less if better. Keeping in mind that many of us are couples and that would be $80.00 and up, plus the other weekend expenses, I can't help but think that a higher price will keep folks away.

Casino Royale

Just my .02..I went last year and had a blast. I plan to return again....i hope to hit the midnight thing though...my only regret from last year.....

I like to have drinks when I play. I am ok with paying at a cash bar to reduce costs. The drink tickets were great but if that is just moving cost to the front door what is the difference. I agree...you drink, you pay....

lower prices are better but I would pay up to $100 a couple to attend....this is expensive but I understand the costs are high....this event was a ton of fun. And besides....I won a prize from all my hard work gambling.....

Shirts? Yes I bought two last year...if people want shirts have them pay separate....lower the cost and get more people in the door. Don't let the high cost of getting in keep people from joining the fun......we all want a great turnout and everyone to be able to have fun....that is the name of the game in mho....

I agree with this. Keeping the initial cost low and let people spend on the extras if they want.

I actually really enjoyed the swag that we got last year, with all of the coupons and whatnot.

It was my favorite 'event' of the 'event' last year!

Hi all

Okay, we have been doing a lot of research and spreadsheets the past few weeks. We are trying to get things settled so that sign-up is at the same time MOTD registration launches. We'd love to have your feedback. This is what we are looking at right now:

1. Increasing the number of tickets available to 500. (Doubling last year.)

2. Spending the additional amount of money necessary to go with the number of gaming tables and staffing the event company advises. This will make it a LOT less crowded and make room for a LOT more people to be playing at the same time.

3. The same fantastic DJ has been booked again for this year!

4. Implementing a gaming participation card. This is to encourage people to move around tables and try all the different games. You get your card stamped, or stickered or whatever we come up with to show you have tried a game - Roulette, Poker, BlackJack and Craps - and you are entered into a drawing to win a prize - we are hoping to be able to offer $500. as the grandprize.

5. Having a cash bar for alcohol. Softdrinks provided for free.

6. T-shirts sold as an option. We haven't determined how much they are yet. They will be an option that can be selected through the NAM store when you register for the event.

7. Swag Bags for everyone again.

8. Chip Cups again. (they were really handy)

9. Holding a Chinese auction again for all the cool prizes we get from our wonderful vendors again this year. Just like last year, you cash in your "winnings" from the gaming to get your raffle tickets.

10. Tickets priced at $40.00 each. The reason for the increase is having the proper amount of gaming tables. From feedback, this seems to be the most important factor that needs addressed. We want this to be the best experience possible. We hope everyone understands that there is a tremendous cost for getting all the equipment (gaming tables) and staffing for the event. We have worked to get tickets as low as possible while providing a quality event.

Let us know what you think!

Hard to give you much more input. It sounds like you've really taken in the comments provided so far and worked to incorporate most, if not all, into the plan for this year - thanks . . . this already promises to be even better than last year.
Hopefully, potential sponsors take notice and are as supportive (or twice as much with a twice as big event) as last year. If I make it to the Dragon, I'll definitely be at Monte night . . . and I'll drive down there with the MiniDoMore hitch I won at last year's.

I know that some folks balked at last year's rate and even more will balk at this year's rate. Even though I don't think I need to "sell" folks on the idea - last year's success speaks for itself! - here are a few things to consider for anyone that might be on the fence:
  • We're more than doubling our cost of hosting the event (by going with more tables (and dealers) per player and by doubling the attendees, not to mention some other cool additions not yet divulged ), but we're NOT doubling the ticket price.
  • You'd most likely spend (aka LOSE) a lot more money than the ticket price for gaming at a real casino.
  • Some would (and have) argue(d) that the entertainment value alone (it is a fun, party atmosphere!) is worth the admission price, but you also get the chance to win very cool prizes - some worth MANY times the ticket price.
  • We honestly believe that this year will be at least twice as cool, fun, and worthwhile as last year - especially now that we've got a baseline from last year (the 'experiment') and have worked out a ton of kinks!!!
I'm looking forward to seeing 500 of you!

Bottom line, if you're coming to MOTD on a budget and can't afford Monte Carlo Night, that's understandable. But if you can swing it then you should go. I don't remember seeing a single person there last year that wasn't having a good time.

I had an absolute ball!

Remember I was the guy that bought something like 10 or so entries so I could get more tickets. Even if you make it $40 I will still buy 10 sets just to up my chances.

My only request is that you have a rear brake kit to match the front one I won last year at MCN

Make it a cash bar- I love to drink but I'm a big boy and can bring my own bar....

No seriously, it is a ton of fun and I love to gamble. The cost of 10 tickets is less than an hour in Vegas (Matt knows as he has witnessed the carnage!)

I know look forward to MOTD to see some people and 2 events only- MCN and BrewSwap.

Come on Lucky 7!!!!!!
