Quote: yes the cam follower are good for 15k - 20k if u are on KO3 turbo but the R is KO4 turbo so u would need to change the cam follower on every oil change.
You do know what/ where the cam follower is right?
It runs off a cam lobe. Bigger turbo means nothing. Its the cam
Lift or combination of a higher sprung FP. The increased load causes additional contact pressure.
I know about the Audi cam profiles & k04.
I'm a 25 yr vdub head and own a Vw business 7yrs now.
Anyhow, back OT

sorry to keep off topic but I think routine maintenance or reliability concerns are an important thing to compare in vehicles. Everything I have read indicates that the camB? that they now use is much more durable and checking it with every oil change or 10k miles is reasonable but that many don't need changing for 30-50k miles or more in some cases. Obviously taking care of something preemptively that could be catastrophic to the engine is important but I think changing every 5-10k seems excessive.

I just bought a CM All4 S with some nice options for 29k. It looks like the Golf R 4 door starts at $34,590. You can get an Audi A4 with AWD starting at $33,400. Add heated seats and some zenon's and you're at $35,745 before any dealer promo's or discounts. I'd much rather have an A4 than a Golf R but I didn't want to spend that much in the first place so I went with the Countryman.

After all the issues I've had with my '12 CMS4, my vote would be the Golf R!
