The other day I just started the engine and immediately heard a LOUD buzzing noise coming from somewhere in the rear seating/or the area behind the seats. I searched but couldn't find its location. I shut down the car a couple of times, and then the noise stopped and hasn't returned.
I'm guessing it might have been a fuel pump, or something. Any ideas? It was alarming since I was about 50 miles from home and didn't want to get stranded.

I hear a similar noise every once in a while in our '03 MCS and have always assumed it is the fuel pump...so long as it's not angry bees nesting behind the back seat
Seems to happen mostly in hot weather.

My back seatbelts buzz all the time...choke them with that plastic piece..to prevent them from moving..
I'm trying to find a noise close to the right brake light....still no luck

How much fuel did you have in the tank?Originally Posted by John Richard

The tank was nearly full. The seat belts were secure. The noise was quite loud and has not happened again. No clue other than the fuel pump that perhaps needed to be burped.Originally Posted by 1bigpea

I had a loud buzz too in my MC... Searched and searched for anything loose (e.g. seats, liners, panels) as it was driving me bonkers (buzzing what sounded like rear passenger area).... It turned out to just be my house keys I placed in the armrest. I should have done this in the first place -look at the obvious locations first rather than assuming it was a loose panel or something... do you keep things in your door compartments or armrest?Originally Posted by John Richard
