I just got my CM back from the stereo shop. The guys at the store installed 4" Hertz DCX100's in the doors. The sound is amazing and it dosent need an amp to push them. Speakers and install cost $320 and i think the sound is better than the upgrade to h&k. Taking the car back next week to have them see what they can do with the 8's under the seats. Im glad I didnt waste my money on the h&k system. The shop thinks that for 3-400 more the car will be what it should and for the same price as the poor quality of the h&k.

Bottom line, it's $250 a month or $2500 a year for access to their online system, and the ISIS system is incredibly user-unfriendly. Having an extensive background in service portals, tuning, etc. makes it a bit easier.
I bought access specifically to get service information, wiring diagrams, etc. to use for modding, and to share here where appropriate. Spending that much, I'd like to get some use out of it! I'm a bit leery of posting this kind of stuff here, but so long as it's not being sold or used for profit, I don't believe any conditions are being violated. I just want to help you guys out, as there's nothing else out there. Even Mitchell and AllData have nothing on the R60 yet, so this is the only way.
That being said, these may be taken down at any time if requested. I'm all for helping, but I don't want any legal trouble.

In fact, they're bass units under the front two seats. Go out and look at your car - open the door, peer down at the side of either the driver or pass seat. You will see about a half inch of grille disappearing under the seat. Under this resides an 8" subwoofer on each side in a large bass unit/cabinet.
It's the same setup as on the X3, X5, and a handful of other Bimmers. It can be modified, and I'm in the process of doing that now with subs that will hit much harder, yet retain the factory position.
Oh, and FYI, the stock subs have 20W RMS going to them.

Wow 20W RMS! Is that all??? No wonder I don't feel/hear anything. Any idea how much these subs can handle? Not looking to rattle the windows but 20W is a joke.
Guess I'll be looking into getting that improved. Already went to a local shop inquiring about powered subs but of course they wanted to build out a custom box with an 8" sub and 350 watts for $900. Gave them the "I'll think about it" and left.
Now that I know they exist I'll see about getting more power to them.
Thanks for the info and with all the tags in your signature line you must have one badass Countryman.

Yep, that's it!
Unfortunately, you will not be able to send any more through them successfully. The voice coils tend to melt after 35W RMS. They're just crappy. They can, however, be replaced. Do not go the box route.
Like I said, I'll post a tutorial up soon regarding replacing them with some serious bass without adding anything to the trunk. I think the cost will be around $400 total.
Thanks for the kind words - I like it, but I keep getting the itch to mod something new every day.

Looking forward to your tutorial on the sub mod. Sounds like something I'll be able to do myself.....with a little (ok, a lot) of your guidance
