R56 Seats in R53: Done

I couldn't really find any information on this so I decided to buy some seats off Ebay and hope for the best. I brought them to a big shop that does show cars and what not and asked them to install.

I didn't do the install so I can't answer specific questions but I thought I'd let anybody know what I know.

They bolted right in.

The Airbag system wired in fine. However you need the connectors off the R53 seats.

The seat heaters don't match up for some reason.. they said they need to take the ones out of my old seats and stitch them in.

The buckles aren't the same size and the mounts are different. I modified the R53 buckle to fit the R56 seat and gave it back to them to wire it in since they seemed a little gunshy to do it.

I didn't have any of this information when I started so just thought I'd share. Have a great day.

I was looking at the ebay listing and I realized it only said 08 Mini Cooper seats so I suppose these could be from a R55 Clubman? Sorry if the title is wrong! I'm new to minis and have no idea.. only owned this thing a few months. Nonetheless I know I liked the look of the seats and my passenger seat was broken. So far I love them compared to the old seats.. They are more comfortable and dampen the road harshness a lot more. Plus they are more supportive.Heres a few pictures for you guys.. Hopefully the post no problem.

This would be great. I really like the R56 seats better.

Thanks for posting, maybe one day I'll do it.

Thanks for posting, good to know that this swap is possible. I would like to have more supportive seats, especially laterally. It would also be good if there was a way to lower the seat, even just an inch would be good.

Wonder if these would be alternative to my '06 R50 to fix the airbox problem (broken seat mat)?
