Upgrade my 2004 factory nav unit to a newer model or aftermarket?
Is it possible to retrofit a newer model mini nav unit to my 2004 factory nav equipped Mini Cooper s? Or can I add an aftermarket unit in place of the factory nav unit? What are my options? This is our first mini s and I bought it for my fiancé but she doesn't like the factory nav unit and also wants to add a newer one as well as Bluetooth.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Wes

Possible? Probably not. Rational? Definitely not.
The '04 uses a DVD based version, which is better than the previous CD based version.
To helpfully answer your question, you'd have to let us know what it is she doesn't like about the NAV, or what features she's looking for. The Gen2 cars probably have a better system (though I haven't used one.)
The simplest solution would be a mounted TomTom or Garmin GPS. If she wants it in the dash, a replacement head unit could work.
The best aftermarket BT I've heard of is Parrot.
