They are off the shelf stuff, clearance shelf at that!

I "borrowed" the pics off of the IJ website and tweaked them with Photoshop to get a better resolution when enlarged, add a little Velcro and Shazzam!

I picked it up from a company in Derby, UK back in May of 03. The vendor was called Mad 4 Models and has since gone out of business (I think??). If you'll do a search on Mini2 for the vendor name you might find the full story, but I believe they were a very small reseller and lost their lease on the store front and moved the business into their house. Shipping became slow and orders were lost and lots of negative comments were made on the board about them. I haven't followed the thread anymore so I don't know what the outcome was.

It appears to be a stock type item though, the invoice describes it as:
"Kyosho 1/18th scale BMW New Mini Cooper S Dealer Edition - it was 43.74 pounds plus shipping.

Hope that helps and good luck!

Funny thing about the Black/Black JL

It was supposed to look like this. I guess it got changed when it went into production.

If I HAD to get a speeding ticket:

I'd chose a police cruiser like this to pull me over. This is a rare one that I picked up in a toy store in Germany:

Matchbox scale. The URL is embedded. They have many more Minis.

I also have the Siku Polizei MINI I picked up in Germany. It's my favorite one.

I am looking for a Hot Orange MINI Cabrio. I know there are some out there, including MINI's 1:18 scale one for $65.

I have seen pics of the Hot Wheels version, but cannot find one in person. Is the color close to the actual thing? Does anyone know of other Hot Orange Cabrio's out there(other brands) or where I can order one online? (I have seen a couple of Cabrio's on eBay and the pic looks like an orange car, but it isn't a pic of the actual item up for bid and the seller never answers my question about the color.)

Any help appreciated!

How thick is your wallet feeling today? A 1:12, made by Kyosho, can be ordered from your MINI dealer.
Here are pics of the hobby shop (non-dealer) version, which is red. Part numbers for the dealer colors are:
80 43 0 391 975 : MINI COOPER CABRIO : HOT ORANGE
80 43 0 391 976 : MINI COOPER CABRIO : COOL BLUE
80 43 0 391 977 : MINI COOPER CABRIO : ASTRO BLACK

I have checked the Wal-Mart stores around us and they seem to carry every type of toy car, truck, etc EXCEPT MINI's.

My wife and I have a saying about the Wal-Mart stores near us: "This would be a good place to open a Wal-Mart." It doesn't matter what it is you go to the store to buy, our Wal-Mart will not have it. They recently opened a SuperCenter-now there is more stuff you are not looking for, and more space for the stuff you want, but they don't carry. We recently went to buy a new microwave, and the shelf with the demo microwaves was half empty, and there was no stock on the shelves. We asked if they had any in back waiting to be brought out. Nope, and they weren't sure if they would receive any the next day either.

The KB Toy store closest to us(50 miles) is pretty small, but I check it whenever I am in Cape Girardeau.

I don't build anymore, but I sure loved doing it when I was a kid.

This wall art is a cool tribute to the craft (for only $2500).

I believe it's 3' 8" square.

Thanks GTS and alpinamike, but...

I was finally able to find one of the Hot Wheels HO MCC's a couple of weeks ago. Been busy and forgot to post on here that I found one.

I really appreciate the help!

I'm just assuming that's what Mishka was referring to ...

I was finally able to find one of the Hot Wheels HO MCC's a couple of weeks ago.

But I have to admit that I sometimes have trouble wading through alphabet soup... even MINI alphabet soup.

I would venture to guess that there's a Hot wheels hot orange cabrio model out there somehwhere ... but probably not in the 1/64 scale .

(I'm pretty much sticking to 1/64s and smaller these days because -- well, they just take up that much less room! )

I picked this up at Tuesday Morning today. The brand is Darda. Go figure.

Scale 1:43. Note the painted over Cooper S gas cap on a Cooper.

Nice catch! It is red, I think they got cheap on us and went with only one interior color. The silver one has the same red interior

Yep, it's red. I went to a craft store and bought some copper(metallic) and Georgia Clay colored paints and mixed them until i had a close match to Hot Orange and then painted the dash/door trim to match my car. I still need to paint the seats so they aren't red anymore. I don't have any pics, but will try to get some this weekend and post them.

I then used the same mix and painted some blank Cooper Contacts from MotorSwag to put on Gromit. After putting a gloss coat over the paint to protect it, they are a little darker then the paint on the car, but still pretty close.
