Great setup. I normally use my floor jack with a square of 3/4 plywood at the center of the car where the reinforced section on the underside of the car is. I am then able to place my two jack stands under the front and the rear jack pads.

I then repeat for the other side to get the MINI up onto four stands.

Using this method I have never deformed or damaged the underside.

I wish I could post a picture to help my explanation.

BlimeyCabrio's blog has lots of pictures of how he does things. The page related to this topic is labeled "How a stud lifts a MINI".

There's lots of other good stuff on his blog well worth reading.

I have the metal for sale. Purchased all the metal tubing for about $110 but never found anyone who could cut and weld it for me. At this point it's just sitting in my garage as I have sold/selling my MINIs. I'll sell it all for $80 (that's two long pieces and the four short pieces). Local pickup only - Northern VA.

Cool idea, but that won't fit under my MINI.
