ok I took some pics I might be able to get the number off the number plate..

73,900 miles he's asking $4,800, I'm guessing he just bought it for 3,300 a few days ago when it was listed for $3,600

I told hime I would think about an offer. other buyer didn't show up! I'm thinking of walking away from this one... its just a little too rough for me, without the top opening and rear windows plus damage.. he started to open the sunroof part and only one side started moving so it started to open on an angle.

For somebody that can turn wrenches this is not a bad car. It sure looks like a duck with all those engine stickers. Have you done a carfax review? The major issue on a vert is the hooks braking where the top connects to the front windshield. As the top starts to track back, it would appear the hooks are still good. I am thinking the guides are dirty causing the roof to crab to one side.

Does the tail gate open ok?

Decoding the VIN will tell you if it's a factory JCW ... it will have options 3AL (JCW Package) and 2TA (LSD). The JCW Tuning Kit will be the 210 bhp version as the exhaust on the early kit will not fit a Convertible.

AeroJammin I'll run the vin. I think 4K is about right. I will shoot for that, and possibly walk away. Are you in the NW FL which part?

I had thought that some 2005's were factory, but it appears you were right that those are 2006MY even though the announcement was in '05. I am in Destin so if you get that car be sure to look up Panhandle MINIs on FB! Also, there are a couple of FB based MINI parts for sale groups that have some good parts as well as a couple of salvage yards that frequently get MINIs. That may be your cheapest route to getting some replacement rear fenders and bumper. I just had my rear window regulator replaced and just that part is ~$300 and required to put the top down, so you may want to plan to get those rear windows fixed before addressing the top.....assuming you got this car

I didn't bother with an offer... I will look for a cleaner example. We are in the same area, Thanks for everyone's help... I'm glad I had an opportunity to buy it. I actually feel better now that I saw it and passed. Everyone here @ NAM helped me with my decision. I just didn't feel like I had enough time to learn everything in about 48 hours. Luckily was able to find this forum, and start this thread.

Update: I bought a "16 JCW
