MINI's 50th birthday celebrations continue with another special edition model. This time it's the MINI WC50 which marks the 50th Anniversary of the Cooper Car Company winning the Formula One constructors championship.

The two guys behind the wheels were legends Jack Brabham and Stirling Moss who took first and third spot in the overall championship. The WC50 will be very limited in numbers, just 50 for the USA.

Mechanically the car is identical to the John Cooper Works model. But there are changes and they are significant. The main ones are the aero kit and some interior appointments. The exterior has bi-xenon lights with black interior reflectors, fog lamps, bonnet stripes, a carbon fiber bonnet scoop, carbon fiber mirror caps and a rear diffuser. It is fitted with 17-inch Cross-Spoke Challenge alloy wheels in a Jet Black colour. The interior comes with a 6-CD Harman Kardon sound system with USB, Bluetooth phone connectivity, heated front seats, an interior lights package, sat nav, rear park distance control, a leather handbrake gaiter and a multi-function steering wheel.

Yep car fax show car was purchased in Ohio and the guy registered it in Illinois then the car sold to someone in mass and he only kept it for 1500 miles. Dealership sold it pretty cheap I'm only paying 19k the car is flawless with 23k miles on it.

Hello, I was wondering what is the widest tire I can put on the stock challenge spoke wheels? would like to do a 225 if possible but would settle for a 215. I'm on stock suspension. Also was wondering if a 17x7 steelie rim with a +38mm offset would clear the big front brakes because I want to run different rims and tires for winter. Thanks.

sorry for the loooooong-delayed reply... not sure on the steelies but i believe 215 is the widest folks run on the challenge wheels (that's what i've got with michelin pss, also cheaper than 205s).

Trevor what did you end up doing for your wheels? Would love to see a WC50 with different wheels on it.

BTW - not sure how new you are to the MINI world but I see you are from NH so make sure you look out for Minis On Top event. Its an annual event where we all drive up MT Washington. Took my WC50 there last year and won best in show. On second thought, don't go so I don't have competition. wink wink

Enzof104, I ended up getting a set of after market winter wheels its a black 6 spoke 17x7 wheel with a set of blizzak WS80's which is a bomb snow tire BTW totally recommend it but they don't make it in the stock tire size its only comes in a 205/50/17 so just a bigger side wall and I have zero rubbing issues. So with the after market winter wheels I decided to just keep the stock wheels. I want to keep the car as original as possible. So I bought a set of Bridgestone RE-71R. A crazy sticky Autocross tires, I've never taken a turn so hard in a car in my life with these tires. So I went with 215/45/17 for those tires. on the stock wheel.

Anyways, I would like to go to some Mini meets, I would like to meet some other WC50 owners in the future. I'll have to look out for that MT Washington cruise, sounds like a lot of fun.

N14 motor. There are known issues, recalls, and a recent class action lawsuit.

You should sell 441 to me immediately before it explodes!

WC50 #443 is no more. I confirmed the car # with the company selling it for parts in this thread: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...-part-out.html

Guess the US cars just became a little more rare now

Ugh, sad. Hope no one was hurt in whatever happened.

Surprised it's been totaled - I guess the value hasn't come up yet on these beauties to make it worth fixing for insurance... I'm also curious if there are still 49 left in the U.S. or if there have been other casualties or any of #s 401-450 have left North America.

Stay safe out there folks!
