I think this photo illustrates why Jet Black is the best color to polish. Yeah, it's a pain in the *** to keep looking clean. But the rewards are incredible.

And yeah, this is a photo of my Jet Black MCS. Really.

Black is definitely a great color, but it's not for everyone. I had a customer with a black Vette and after I detailed it, 3 months later he traded it in for a silver vette and encountered a lot of mechanical issues and then traded it for a white vette. lol. From Black to Silver to White because he couldn't deal with driving a car that looked less than perfect after it was cleaned.

This is pretty common and my point. This thread isn't about the BEST color to own, it's about the one that looks the best after polishing and keeping it that way while taking into consideration the owner isn't a detailing enthusiast or paint nut like some of us here! Black shows everything and rewards the owner with its beauty..course it's also VERY hot on the sunniest days and it gets dirty easily and it shows swirls and scratches and bird poo etchings immediately and so on. It's not for everyone.

With that said, let me show you what Prima looks like on a gorgeous black Aston Martin.

And speaking of reflections look at these two pix

And remember what it looked like when it came to me...what typical black paint looks like.

CR PW JB.....holy cow!-that's an amazing pic reflecting off your JB

so does CPR exist or was someone confusing the name chili red with chili pepper red?

where is that list of MINI color codes, model codes, abreviations, specs, etc?

lambo-zaino plus epic?

well actually the lambo door kit came with the car when i bought it--and since they were insanely expensive--have decided to keep them-they do draw a lot of attention!!!. but really wondering about finishing off my zaino process with epic-and wonder what the pros think.

If your Zaino process includes a good wax, and I'm guessing it does.. then I say finish it off with Prima Banana Gloss.

On Chili Red...

i am still a rookie at this and i havent finished with a wax but appreciate you bringing it up--i read here that epic has some qualities zaino z2 doesnt but not clear on a red car what that would mean. if my last coat after several z2 was epic-would i get the benefit of both? but then you suggest i end with BG or a wax--can you share what the wax coat then does for the process--i assumed the zaino and or epic final was the hard coat to end with. i always assumed the advantage with this was it didnt wear off like any wax seems to. thanks for the suggestion -another thing to consider for sure.

I'm no pro but from reading most of OG posts on the subject, I would try the Banana Gloss over the Zaino...it has carnuba in it and that should give you a richer shine. I plan to give this a try too.

Yeah, that's why I recommended BG over top of the long-lasting wax. It's particularly useful on dark colors and when you're using a synthetic wax.

The wax provides long lasting protection and some aesthetic benefits. The Banana Gloss will help the wax last longer and provide more reflection and shine due to the carnbuba it contains.

yeah zaino Z2 is a last step product, as is Epic. Zaino gives a very glossy shine and is very slick and lasts months. I use Hydro as a topper over Zaino Z2 to act as a booster, and the Hydro gives a richer look than the Z2. No compatibility issues with Hydro over Z2. Epic is reported to also give a richer look than Z2.

perhaps Heather could chime in as to your question of whether Epic can be put on top of Zaino

hydro or banana over z2

i see two diff strats here over z2---can you please clarify the diff between the two and which is the best strat--clearly would prefer to use one or the other--unless pros here recommend both over z2---i think there seems to be a solid view that wax on top of several z2 coats is a good move. appreciate your view!! thanks and will post some pictures of the end result--looks good so far but really wonder about this last step

My BG should arrive next week so I will let you know how it looks over the Z2. I plan to try it on the rear bonnet first.

You need to realize that BG is going to warm the glow and make your Zaino less shiny. That's what carnaubas do. Asking someone else about their BG experience is only going to be valid to you IF they have the same color, and view the paint under the same lighting conditions. You will have very different looks at 12noon vs 5pm.

In my opinion each product is going to give you a different effect depending on color and amount of light. The only way to find out what is right for you is to try different products. After all is said and done it only matters to "The eye of the beholder". Some people are looking for shine, some are looking for more depth. My MINI is two colors and I use different products on each color to get the desired results that I like.
Detailing can be lots of fun and experimentation. This forum can be great to give you a firm idea of the correct methods to maintain your finish and to avoid destroying your paint. I think the end result of different products is always going to be very subjective.
