what's a good sport tire for wet roads?
 

I live in Mobile, AL, and it is the rainiest city in the U.S. No, it's not Seattle. It rains a little more often there, but they only get about 35" a year and we get almost 70". To get twice the rain in fewer days means that when it rains here it comes down in buckets, for hours and hours. And without a specific rainy season, any day of the year can look like a "monsoon season" video from the Discovery channel. I know good sport tires will make the car more fun to drive, but not if I have to spend half my time trying to to hydroplane into a ditch or oncoming traffic.

So, what is a sport tire that handles good on wet roads?

Michelin Pilot Sport 4S or
Continental ExtremeContact Sport.

Don’t run them down to the wear
bars if you want good wet performance.
Change them when they get down to
4/32 -5/32 and you’ll be very happy
in the rain.

I replaced DriveGard runflats with PilotSport 4 AS. Much better ride. Perhaps not as responsive for extreme sporty turns but overall a big step up for comfortable, controlled driving. 8,000 miles so far and tires look great.

I’m in NY and recently there’s been a lot of snow, rainstorms and the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 4 have not let me down :nod:

BTW, both the Michelin PS 4S and
the Conti ExtremeContact tires
are surprisingly comfortable for
max performance Summer tires.

I've been running BFG Sport Comp 2 A/S on two MINIs in Canada for years and like them. They perform three season duty (spring, summer and fall) and deal well with rain. Swap them out for winter tires from Nov to Apr. It;s summer version (Sport Comp 2) may be better suited for your local climate.

wet = continental like the new extreme contact hey simply outperform the rest if you are doing track or autocross there is no better wet tire
